Default Raps looking to trade their 2012 draft pick?

I've heard some commentary from the organization and from people with some inside info like Jack Armstrong that it sounds like the Raps' main interest for their upcoming pick (assuming they don't bump up to #1) is to trade it for established talent.

While you can't rebuild forever, I am pretty skeptical of that being their mindframe for this pick. The Raps are terrible, and will be terrible for AT LEAST 1 more year (or possibly the next decade). So the bringing in established/veteran talent thing I think will be useless and will be that same sacrificing the future for a chance at 6-8 seed story.

If they keep a top 6 pick, they can let all the youngsters develop together and still suck enough to get a 1-3 pick the next year and maybe get our much needed point guard out of that (2013) draft (cuz a PG ain't coming out of this year's).

Of course they are. The management and ownership want this team in the playoffs ASAP regardless if it's a 1st round exit every year. The goal is to build consistent mediocrity in Toronto.

Raptors are following the Leaf's strategy of the past 10 years.

That would be quite the questionable move.

MLSE should just hire this Raptors forum to run the team. Hell, we'd do it for free (unless they offered otherwise). Suddenly the right moves would be made, it's not complicated stuff. Not winning into the 8th spot of the draft this year would have been an obvious start.

There could be some really interesting trades out there if willing to package the pick with Bargnani or Calderon- if its just trade the pick to try to bring in a vet to join the current roster than no that doesn't make sense. The big question is who wants to get into that part of the draft and why? You really think a team wants to trade in for perry jones or sullinger or other guys w question marks?

Depends on the age of this established talent.
