Re: So... Wth are we going to do during offseason to make sure this won't happen again?
OJ Mayo signs with Dallas for 2 years. If we can get Courtney Lee for cheap, I think that's the best option out there. The problem is, unless it's a S&T, we can't offer anything more than the vet min if we want to stay under the tax, and a S&T would definitely put us in the tax. Time to get creative...

I'll be disappointed if Mayo did indeed sign with Dallas for the rumored 2 year $8 million deal. We could have managed that and that's a very reasonable price for him.
I hope we really pushed for him.
I know he visited Phoenix and Dallas. Not sure if he visited Chicago, but I don't think he did. I don't know if that's' because he didn't want to come here or if we just didn't show him that we really wanted him here.
I find it really hard to believe that if management sold him on being our starting SG, being part of our core, and playing in the backcourt with DRose for a long time that he would pass that up but we've seen stranger decisions from players in the past so I wouldn't put him past that.
He'd be in a better position here than he's going to be in Dallas. but what's done is done. But if he wanted to be here and we didn't give him 8 million over two years than we messed up and I'm disappointed. Maybe we'll find out what happened maybe we won't but I'd be a lot happier if he was a Bull today but he's a Maverick so life moves on.
At this point best options seem to be Courtney Lee or Shannon Brown.
Hope we do SOMETHING.

Also Brandon Rush is a nice player who I think can fit in nicely.
Some other options:
Marco Belinelli
Michael Redd
Randy Foye
Carlos Delfino
Leandro Barbosa
Delonte West
Josh Howard
Michael Pietrus
CJ Miles
Terrence Williams
Martell Webster
Willie Green
Chris Douglas-Roberts
Correct me if I'm wrong about any of these players, but to the best of my knowledge they are all available.
Some nice possibilities there. I'm not ready to give up on this season.

Depending on what happens with Asik we will also need another big man or two.
Best options left out there that could be possibilities:
Kenyon Martin
Anthony Randolph
Darko Milicic
Jordan Hill
Louis Amundson
Aaron Gray
Ronny Turiaf
Dominic McGuire
Shelden Williams
Troy Murphy
Nazr Mohammed

Andray Blatche was amnestied so he could be an option.
Yes I know he has character and work ethic issues, but those are things that can be corrected with our strong coaching staff and our roster which is full of high character individuals.
He's the perfect example of a guy who needs a fresh start and his talent is there. Versatile power forward.

Randolph or Hill would be tops on my list. Young, athletic bigs are always useful, and we should be able to get them for pretty cheap. Also heard the Bulls are looking into Mohammed since he grew up in Kenwood.
For guards, Belinelli or Redd would be nice if we can get them cheap. Belinelli is a RFA, so the Hornets could still match, but with Rivers and Gordon they might not.

Apparently Randolph signed with the Nuggets...there goes that ship. 3 years, $6 million is the reported contract...If the Bulls had enough cap space that would have been a nice deal.

Yeah I saw that. He's certainly worth that considering he still has tons of potential.
Thibs could have been the one to unlock his defensive potential.
He's shown flashes he just hasn't been able to stay consistent.
Being surrounded with our roster and our staff could have done wonders for him, but he's a Nugget now so we need to focus on the options that are still available.

I understand your concerns. He's shown that he can create unnecessary issues on and off the court, but he has talent. He has low basketball IQ and supposedly bad work ethic, but a fresh start could be exactly what he needs.
We need a fresh infusion of talent and he could provide that.
He's a guy who has something to prove and will find himself fighting for an opportunity. May break out and show what people expected of him on a new team.
