The article's byline to click on it - LIN REFUSES TO PLAY AT 85%.

I mean come on. Can we editorialize a little more in the headlines? WTF is this from? ESPN has decided he is a sworn enemy of Lebron and therefore of them? They couldn't think up a good headline with *****?

The article is not about Lin refusing to play, nor does it state he refused to play. I don't get it.

It got you to read the article. That's what headlines are for.

ESPN seems to always go out of their way to bash or swipe NY and it's teams.

Case in point. The 30 for 30 specials. They had 2 episodes where a NY suffered bad losses, with the Reggie Miller against the Knicks episode, and the 2004 Red Sox coming back from 3-0 down vs the Yankees. Even the episode about George Steinbrenner was done in a very disparaging way.

I think you're being a little paranoid. I saw the Miller special, what were Miller's greatest moments? Clutch shots vs. the Knicks. It's not about tearing down NY, that's just what everyone remembers when it comes to Miller.

i was on ESPN's page looking at sports news. i would have clicked on an article that said Lin likely not to play in series. It didn't need a swipe at him.

It's not paranoia. It's an observation that has been made by many from NY. Go read the columnists on the ESPN NY landing page. They are always writing something negative, or taking a shot at one of the NY teams. It's not just me that notices it. Read the comments on many of the stories. Others complain about it as well.

Do you want him to be like Oden and play at 85% only to never play again?

Youre a Knicks fan. They're not worried about selling the product to you; they know you'll bite. And you did.

But that headline generates a lot more buzz to people who aren't looking for Knicks/Lin news.

ESPN's not worried about selling their product to anyone who posts on this board. We're legitimate sports junkies, we're able to form our own opinions on whatever happens in the world of sports. ESPN's interested in the "casual fan" that doesn't spend good chunks of every day doing something related to sport. It's why they're an entertainment company and not a sports company. It's also why I don't get why people here watch the channel if it's not a live event.

ESPN is part of the national corporate media structure. Nothing within that structure would I call a "legitimate news organization". They are a glorified tabloid. Looking for as much ratings as possible, nothing more.

Do you know who owns ESPN? Maybe you should do some research and find out. Because you look like an idiot right now.

i don't blame Lin. he has to be 100% to face Miami's D or he'd probably hurt them more than help. plus he's rusty. even if the Knicks are desperate Lin is the type of dude that wouldn't want to hurt his team in any way.

F espn. they pull so much stupid crap these days...

because it gets people to click the link. its also noteworthy, considering many people have played at "85%" or less. stephen a echoed that sentiment. I dont mind him/them being careful with it, though he probably shouldnt have said 85%
