Default Play Nash as sixth man?

Right now Pau's leading the second unit. Not saying he didn't do well but I think he's most effective when he plays with Howard. The two of them compensate for each other too well.
Steve Nash is useless when Kobe, Pau and Dwight are all on the court. Why not let him come off the bench. This way also limits his minutes. I think him and Hill can play some great PnR.
Your thoughts?

I can definitely see the positives (limits minutes/less redundant etc), but there's also a few negatives. I don't know if the talent in the bench is good enough to make the most of his talents. Lakers have such a huge gap in skill between their starters and bench players. It might have worked when he was younger and still could get his own shots and be a bit more aggressive, but I don't know if it's the best idea now.

Plus.. you know who would then start at PG right?

When Dwight, Kobe and Pau are all on the court, the PG's only job is to bring the ball up and knock down some open 3's.
I don't like the idea of Pau playing too many minutes in regular season.

They should let Nash pick and roll, penetrate, and make decisions... get rid of Princeton O

Sounds like a solid idea to me, honestly.

Run fast break with the 2nd unit, and gives them all confidence and easy looks / transition points.

The half court game is fine w/ starters and a core of Kobe / Gasol / Howard

This.

If anyone should lead the 2nd unit its Kobe (not saying he should come off the bench, but he should play the most minutes with the 2nd unit). He's been proven to carry the scoring load of teams with lottery balls talent, and i think Nash/Gasol/Dwight can really thrive as a unit.

That's not the Kobe five years ago. He's playing great off the ball right now and you are asking him to go back to chucking mode. Plus he's too old to play that many minutes.

Thanks. The second unit can indeed run&gun with Nash, hill, jamison, Meeks.

It'd be great to have a whole bench unit + maybe Dwight... that could run with Nash and then just have him push it while Kobe rests.

Unfortunately, I am not sure LA has the horses on the bench. But who knows, if they push it everyone will look good.

I don't understand why Steve Nash can't play with a good C. Kerr's idea with Shaq was smart... and would work better with Dwight. Push it and if they get back then slow it down. It's important to understand when to slow it down, though, and at the end of games, use Dwight and Kobe to beat up on the tired bodies.

The trade off is the Lakers would be starting Blake or Duhon and the negatives of doing something like this is just mind boggling. Not only would they get torched by any point guard with relatively decent speed and/or pick and roll game, but they wouldn't be a net positive player on offensive to make up for it (and that's with them "only having to knock down shots" which neither player has proven they can do for a bit now). This would be just a horrible train wreck of an idea.
