Default Deron Williams resigns with the Nets for 5 years 100 million dollars

From Deron Williams' Twitter Account: https://www.twitter.com/deronwilliam...91777238798336

Quote:
Deron Williams announced on Twitter Tuesday that he's chosen to join the Nets in Brooklyn. The All-Star point guard tweeted a pic of the Nets' Brooklyn logo shortly after agreeing to a five-year deal worth approximately $98.75 million.

Williams chose the Nets over the Dallas Mavericks and will join an All-Star backcourt with Joe Johnson, acquired from the Atlanta Hawks a day earlier. The Nets remain in trade discussions with Orlando in the event they can find a way to persuade the Magic to trade the disgruntled All-Star to Brooklyn, long his preferred destination.

But the signing of Williams was satisfaction enough, culminating a high-risk, high-reward strategy that began with acquiring the point guard from the Utah Jazz, continued with trading a lottery pick for Gerald Wallace and reached all-in status Monday with the acquisition of Johnson and the $89.3 million remaining on his contract over the next four seasons.

Billy King did it. Mad props to him!

Nets also just traded for Reggie Evans, agreed with teletonovic(sp?) for the MLE. and have rookie PG Tyshawn Taylor.

i also read... i think it was on ND... that they're gonna try to bring hump back as well. and since farmar was bought out after the trade, maybe they can bring him back too. he turned out to be a great backup / occasional starter, and i hate to lose him.

d-will - JJ - wallace - hump -lopez

that's a nice starting lineup. just a bit light on 'd'. AJ has got to find a way to get some defense from these guys. maybe take a page from carlisle's zone in dallas?

anyway, i'm so relieved that d-will decided to re-sign, and so happy that so many national writers were proven wrong. i got sick and tired of how many of those suckers kept writing those "d-will is certainly leaving the nets" articles the past year.

The current roster is good but only dwight will make us a contender. I look at it as we have and 2-3 year window in trying to win a championship with joe and gerald's current age. d-will too actually. dwight will immediately turn us into a contender our first year and lopez won't. I like Lopez but with Howard's defense we would be unstoppable. Him and Gerald Wallace would be a lethal one-two defensive punch just like Marion and Chandler were for the Mavericks. right now we're a 2nd to 3rd seed in the east due to how weak the east is but no way can we beat okc or miami. And if we can't beat okc or miami, taking on joe and gerald will prove to be dumb.

I understand this dude, but Joe Johnson and Gerald Wallace really aint the problem. It is the usage of Full MLE that killed a potential Dwight trade, damn I hate that stupid European dude who is destined to be traded midway into the season. Id at least be happier if we use it on Kidd or Ray Allen.

It seems kind of dumb that the entire MLE was used for Tech Tele. 2.5 to 3 million should have been used on him. That would reserve the remaining MLE for flexibility. I really wanted my second favorite player of all time to be a Net but getting a 20 year old in Tele was a great addition. He has an entire decade and I believe that he will be an immediate impact. He is Ryan Anderson minus the rebounding.

The Howard fantasy is not out the window yet. With Gerald Wallace taking nearly 3 million less the first year, that will be enough to remain under the hard cap.

Indeed, I believe we could sign him with about 2-3m contract. MLE is a rather important option that you should not waste on someone you might easily sign for less money. Not sure if this is all Billy King's doing, I am so disappointed at this nonsense.

But look at the bright side, Playoffs here we come! May as well be a 1st round trip, 2nd round exit, or ECF appearance but anyway we are in it.
