Re: 2012-2013 English Premier League Thread (La Liga, Serie A, etc.)
Zlatan is still one of the best players in the world. Had a fantastic season, had a great Euro run and is straight up killing it right now. What more do you want?
Re: 2012-2013 English Premier League Thread (La Liga, Serie A, etc.)
His best season is easily his 08/09 season, and he was also a better player then.
But is he really out of his prime or washed up? That's a special comment. He's a much better player now than he was at Juventus, much less Ajax. Ajax?
I will say this: I'm a striker. If I ever got to be a pro, Zlatan is the last player I'd like to play alongside. He is somewhat impossible for another striker to play with...unless maybe someone like Robinho, who is a certain kind of SS.

Thanks for the outrageous edit Zlatan had epic moments in his Ajax days, then moving on to Juventus he became better, then had his best years in Inter. After that it's been a downhill inconsistent path for him. Zlatan will always have jaw dropping moments since that's the kinda player he is but if you have followed his career closely as I did you would have noticed by now that he is not in his prime anymore.

Zlatan was a pretty good player for us. Talented, a nice contributor (though not vital) to a couple of titles, part of a nice CL run together with Maxwell/Chivu/VdVaart/Litmanen/De Jong/Sneijder/Pienaar/Trabelsi. (quite the team :O )
But to suggest that he was remotely as good at Ajax as he is now is ridiculous. I really don't believe you were around watching Ibra in those days, sorry.

I never watched Ajax regularly in those days but I watched their CL games and most of their Dutch league highlights. To me a young Zlatan without this inflated sense of himself is better than this self claimed living legend, not saying he was modest back then though.
PS: You are making my initial post all about his Ajax days while I primarily meant his days after he moved to Italy to mature and refine his game.
