From that statement, I see Kobe going on a 35 FG spree to break the scoring record in the next two years. Haters tears will be hilarious.

The Lakers need a true point guard and to keep one of their bigs or trade for another and a better bench. But they really need a point guard who runs the offense and sets up Kobe. Kobe can't do it by himself anymore and try and take over games.

I still say this would be a contending team by maybe even next season:

C: Andrew Bynum
PF: Jordan Hill
SF: Devin Ebanks
SG: Kobe Bryant
PG: Deron Williams

sometimes its not up to you. Funny to think he called out the pistons (who, after winning it all 2 years in a row, lost in the conference finals) when they got swept in the 2nd round, followed by a gentleman's sweep in the 2nd round the following year. Being a fierce and prideful competitor doesnt mean you will always win. Lakers are done as a contender without a major re-tool.

The thing is the Lakers are in great position to rebuild and become instant contenders right away. If they can move Bynum and Gasol and land Howard and D-Will they'll be right up there with the Thunder and Spurs again next season.
