Default Anyone pull the trigger on 4k TV in 2016?

I realize that 4k is not quite mainstream just yet, but with the 2017 OLED models coming out deals were had during BF and just before Christmas on various 2016 4k sets. I pulled the trigger on a 65' Samsung KS8000. There's never really a good time to buy a TV, but I couldn't pass up the BF deal on the Xbox One S for $150 that plays 4k blue rays so I got the 4k TV also at a steal. The problem with this upgrading shit is now I need to buy a receiver that has HDMI HDCP 2.2 pass through. Also need to buy new shit to mount the old 65" plasma in the basement above the fireplace in the living room.

Nope. My 50" Vizion 1080p LED is still going strong. Going to wait until price drops even more and most of the media I want is in 4K. It's just not worth it to me personally.

I have a 1080p I got last year that is really nice. Regardless I am still interested in the 4k. But like Meticode was alluding too I'm not sure how much stuff that I would watch would be available in 4k. I'll probably end up getting one next year.

If you needed a new TV anyways it was probably the smart move to go 4k.

I got a 40 inch 4k for my bedroom from samsung for only about 500 CAD (350 USD)

I even have an xbox one s (outputs in 4k) but I find the 4k resolution to be overrated. Atleast currently.

There is just not enough media content available in true 4k. Perhaps its good for future proofing if you splurge and get a huge 60 inch 4k with all the features. Could be set for the next decade.

I bought a JS8500 very beginning of last year. I've been very happy with it.

Have a 75" Sony 4K in the living room. Everything's amazing except the sound, which is expected from internal speakers. Just need to buy a receiver and a good sound system.

I was fine with the internal speakers, as I'm running the tv in a pretty small bedroom, but I grabbed a soundbar with a subwoofer, and it's really been great.

My family all went in on it and bought me one for Christmas. It's pretty sweet but I'll need to upgrade to a ps4 pro if I want 4k netflix and gaming.

I tried using my computer to stream 4k but it started running pretty hot and loud. I don't think it can handle it well.

This. I hardly watch TV anymore.

Its cool for the Xbox but would I really notice a difference? Maybe if I look closely, but not enough to where I'd run out and buy a new TV for it.

I found a pair of Bose speakers lying around and I connected them to the TV. Massive difference. Although that's not good enough either, since I have it in the living room.

Anyone here know anything about tower speakers? I want to get a good pair. Are these two any good?

I got a nice soundbar that came with a subwoofer for $300, made a huge difference.

How big is your living room? 200 square metres?

Do you even need 4K in a small room? That's the problem here in NYC, we don't have too many 'big' rooms for me to justify upgrading from even my 6-8 yr old 720p TVs that work fine. Although, I want bigger than 37 inches ( ) which is the size of both my TVs. And what will I do with these TVs that work perfectly fine? I don't do the craigslist stuff, they are prob not even worth $100. And ebay? Hell I don't trust buyers.
