Maybe entertainment is number 1 for the NFL, as it should be. I couldn't give two shits about Goodell or his priorities. The league is in great standing with all that.

Number 1 for me is my squad that I've rooted for since birth making great strides to be a contender, all that starts in OTAs, minicamp and Training Camp specifically. Getting wins and finding an identity, no matter how 'entertaining'. Most of the good teams are tight knit and don't need other people to motivate or create excitement for camp, they are focused.

As a coach, no way would I wanna deal with dudes trying to show up and show off for NFL Films and HBO, trying to make a name for themselves outside the adhesive of the team. I would want my guys working hard and staying focused for a long grueling season where consistency is a must. Again, developed in training camp/practice.
Why do I feel the need to remind you that Dallas has 5 rings?...lol

I applaud Jerry for letting the fans see into training camp...IMO this sport is for the fans first and formost

Coaches and players have to deal with cameras regardless...I never heard Hard Knocks reffered to as a distraction by any of the teams that have done it...camera men can't be blamed for lack of success

I agree with you on "AS A COACH" though...they have one job and one job only, to win

as a fan though we should all applaud Hard Knocks and the teams that agree to it

Those rings are footnotes in (somewhat recent) history. They are not relevant just like none of the Skins three rings are relevant any longer. This era of Cowboys football has been a failure if it has to be constrained to black and white success or failure status. Need I remind YOU of UNO playoff win in 15 years...of course I don't.

The sport is certainly for the fans but real and genuine fans want results and success. This starts in camp and needs to be carried over to the season. That's the most safe way to be successful all season. TC isn't supposed to be a media circus even if it becomes that. It's a humble time for guys to be reminded how hard they must work and what kinda history has gotten them to this point.

For the record, I love Hard Knocks. It just isn't smart for a young or talented but unfocused team to accept til they have a rock solid foundation and team culture

I like them getting the Dolphins. They don't have any personalities that have already been shoved down our throats. New coach, rookie QB, interesting RB situation with Bush/Thomas/Miller/Slaton. Cameron Wake is a star that I dont think I've heard speak.

Could get me interested in a team that I normally wouldn't watch.

I agree that training camp is important, I want to win, etc... and all that...I'm just think that teams have an obligation to the fans...I wouldn't mind if the commish stepped in and said "I'm sorry I have to do this but NFL Films is going to be filming you this year, it sucks I know but the fans love you, boohoohoohoo"

Also you might be right about me viewing this different being a Cowboy's fan...our training camp is a media circus every year with or without Hard Knocks...fans can buy tickets to watch the Cowboys at trainging camp...there are camera men there every year anyway...it isn't like Hard Kncoks does adds anything that isn't there.

^^^ training camp WITHOUT Hard Knocks

Season premiere Aug 7th. Hard Knocks producer revealed Braylon Edwards had a workout with Dolphins. Chad Johnson on the team, learn about new coach, 3way QB battle, hopefully an appearance by one of Reggie Kush's hunnies.

Was watching the Cincy season last night. Can't wait.

Really? They're popular as hell. You get a firsthand look at practice and get to meet the players and such. Really cool thing for a dad to bring his son to in the summer time.

Who watched it? Chad Johnson walking in and sitting down in the coaches meeting On the field..."I feel good, I feel like a movie! I feel like a cheetah! I feel...I feel black!" "when you're out here you're like my season last year, you're irrelevant!" "when you pause call of duty for someone...shes the one." Dude is gonna make the show by himself again.

The way Philbin runs his practice switching between 1st and 2nd teams is so simple yet brilliant.

Vontae Davis looked bad. Showed up tired and out of shape, leaving a 75 min practice to go to the bathroom, etc.

Les Brown's story is awesome. Played 3 years of basketball at a small school, no college football, but got a workout because he's a 6'6" TE that ran a 4.40 40.

Has anyone have a link?

BTW any updates on Vernon's and Vontae's bro. He was arrested in connection with a murder case.

I liked him talking about how he found his wife...
