Best Free RTS games That Aren't Too High End

I don't want a hardcore recent game that will tax my laptop (getting new one in 3 weeks). Just want a great free RTS to burn up some time. Been playing Warzone 2100 but not nearly enough customization and variety in troops as I want. Any ideas? I found some classic ones supposedly but they were all free trial/partial games.

Thanks. I'll try WC3. Have only played couple times years back. Was very fun... liked the hero aspect.

Damnit. Can't get WC3 for free on that website. Only an anti hack launcher and ladder to play on.
