Default Early 90s Warriors video. Could a team built like them contend today?

Second of these....

I wasnt sure how id do the 20. all in one topic or a new one each time. I decided on new ones so some of the less popular teams dont get lost in some bs argument over a previous entry. So ill just update the new ones with links to the previous.

Ive decided to just include links to the previous ones as I make them.

#1:

Early 90s Blazers

#2.

Early 90s Warriors. And notice I did not say Run-TMC because that disregards someone I feel needs a mention...Sarunas Marciulionis.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HzHmZ...ature=youtu.be

Team has 4 players who can destroy you on any given night. They scored from 116 to 120ppg. They had games where they drop 150 and 140 on the Pacers, 144 on the spurs, 145 on the cavs, 143 on the Hawks, 147 and 145 on the Nuggets, 153 and 148 on the Kings....

Im gonna stop...not because im out of games to mention. I just feel the point is made. Mullin is out there dropping 29/8/7 months on 54% shooting. Timmy putting up 23/11 with stretches of like 28/12. Mitch going off for 35-40 now and then....Sarunas going hard as hell in the paint.

Don Nelson letting them play without plays some games as a reward.

Im not gonna ask if they could win it all without defense but....how well do you think they could do if you replaced say....the Bobcats with them next year?

Hardaway's crossover was so filthy. I'm pumped you put this out the same day as the Portland one. I thought there'd be a bit of a wait.

Don Nelson's teams could sometimes sucker a team into an upset, like '91 vs the Spurs, '89 vs Utah(haven't seen that series, though), and especially '07 vs Dallas when the Mavs tried to match their small lineup. And I believe it was you who said that was his equivalent of an NBA title, except for teams like his '03 Mavs and 80's Bucks who were more legit.

So no, I don't think they could really win with that style, they could compete and be a respectable team, but essentially do the same thing they did when they actually played.

I like Sarunas as well, a crafty scorer off the dribble.

They'd be better than the Warriors with Baron, but similar in what I think they could accomplish.

To me they could compete but their lack of a big man always came back to haunt them with teams that did not try to play their style. I LOVED watching this team and they struck genuine concern into teams they played.

In the playoffs usually the pace slows down and it becomes more of a well paced chess game.

They would be equal to OKC to me now.. but OKC has better bigs. GS had victor alexander.. askew.. Manute bol and gatling as their bigs.. oh owens and webber ( Later) when they were greener.. While OKC has Ibaka /Perkins/ collins/mohammed ..but this would not have been enough to get them there without everything going just right for GS.

I truly believe they could upset some teams though...

Still I would have loved to have seen hardaway vs westbrook.. richmond vs durant and mullen vs thabo and damn saraunus vs harden would have been great!!

Nicely done. It is not often I am able to stumble across rookie Tim Hardaway clips or more than one Marciulionus highlight. Sarunas is one of those players I try to make myself play like but know that I'm really not doing him justice. He and Manu are two fellows whose arsenals I find similar to what I'm trying to accomplish out there.

Also, that Hardaway cross on Avery Johnson to floater over Hakeem is one of my favorite moves in the history of basketball. Many hours spent trying to perfect that one (for the .01% of the time it'd come into play during a real game).

That Tim cross on Richard Coffey is the only reason I've ever heard of Richard Coffey (aka the Timberwolf sent stumbling back as Hardaway drills a triple).

Finally, my lone highlight contribution to this era: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJt74lFezh4

To make that team now you need maybe......warriors baron, a better posting up healthy eric gordon, a much worse attacking but much better passing durant, and a manu/maggette hybrid off the bench so he lacks manus playmaking and outside shot but attacks like a madman.

Really have trouble seeing a team like that coached by say....Dantoni....winning 55 in the east?

Early 90's warriors are my favorite team of all-time. I was a fan for the entire 90's. So even though I don't think they would be condensers, I still approve this message

Like KBlaze mentioned, almost every position could create their own shot and score. They were all relatively good shooters in general, but also could create their own shots, it wasn't as tho they were just spot up shooter.

But what separates them from most teams today was their passing ability.

Yeah... today we see teams that have guys that can create their own shot, but how many teams can also pass and have a high IQ?

Again, I'm gonna use the Spurs' style of play as an example.

What makes the Spurs so good is their ability to pass the ball and move it from side to side, while not settling for a forced contested shot.

Today's era is crafted for their style of play, so they'd only blossom even more in this era. How would Tim get stopped? how would Rock or Mullin be contained? that's 3 players from 3 different positions that can pass and score with an IQ that's superior than the Thunder's big 3. While I'm not sure if they can win it all, they sure as hell could be a top 5 team without question.... easily.

Plus...having Duncan when it breaks down. warriors would lack that.

Marciulionis made the HOF with David Stern. So Mullin and he are in and Timmy and Mitch are finalists. Coach Nelson in.

People will look back and see a team with a HOF coach, 3 HOF starters, and a HOF guard off the bench....perhaps they will wonder why they didn't accomplish more.
