Dirk Nowitzki has paid close attention to Kevin Durant’s playoff run.
"KD," Nowitzki said, "is way ahead of my curve. He's arguably the best player in the league right now. I see a guy that really has no holes.
"He's a 6-10 guy with a 7-4 wingspan who can shoot it from the parking lot. He's posting up now. In transition he's so long that, when he gets a pass from the 3-point line, it's a layup or dunk with one step. He's got the one- or two-dribble pull-up, which you need to be a great scorer, because you can't just shoot 3s or go to the basket if you want to be a great scorer, 'cause sometimes you can't get all the way to the bucket. He can go both ways, one or two dribbles and up.
"He's way more of a 3-man than I ever was. He handles the ball way better on the break than I ever did. He's got deeper range. And he's doing all this at 23. He's won the scoring title three times in a row, so that he means he won the first one at 21. I barely got through my rookie year. When I was 21, Gary Trent was still killing me in practice."
props.... but at the same time idk if i would have said so much. youre ****in dirkules man. 'kid is ballin' would have sufficed. save all this stuff for when they interview you for documentaries in 15 years.
Dirk just states his true opinion w/o feeling inferior or jelly in any fiber of his body. He definitely has real class, real self-confidence (no fake tough GOAT MVP like 99% of the league) and is truly a decent human being.
Show me any other superstar who is so mature to keep it real like that?

that's true. his candidness is pretty unique. i mean, people talk about duncan being 'humble', but i just think he has a quiet personality. no knock on him, he's a terrific individual and team player but i would just never see a guy even like duncan who would say that stuff.
active players just don't go into that detail much and make comparisons. too much pride and ego. most stars would just say, 'ya, he's good....' or whatever.
and what about miami? dirk sons them last year, then throws heaps of praise on durant who might possibly beat them this year.
Durant had played basketball his whole life, played all those all-american type competitions all throughout high school. He played a year in college.
Dirk didn't even pick up a basketball unrtil he was 15-16. And at that time he sucked on the court. Don't believe me? Watch this video of him in high school:
Holger saw promise in his awkwardness and started teaching him. Then by age 20 and getting to the NBA he was pretty good. But he spoke very little English, had no friends, etc. Didn't know the NBA game, etc. He had to adjust to the whole culture barrier. And Nash took him under his wing and helped him.
Dirk is being truthful. Durant at 21 was better. But that is because Dirk had farther to come to get to that point in their careers at 21.
Those comments demonstrate huge respect for Kevin Durant. Hopefully he learns of these comments and shows his appreciation for Dirk saying that.
The main reason Dirk made these comments is because Kevin Durant is a classy guy similar to Dirk himself. If KD was a cocky prick I doubt that Dirk would praise him.

And who knows maybe in 3 years when Dirk is a free agent they could be teammates. 37 year old Dirk is still decent in this league.
I donīt think one player/coach in the West thinks Bron is the best player in the league. They all know Durant is #1 and the finals will probably confirm it. I have known since the World Championships. LeBron couldnīt have done what Durant did there. He carried that whole team on his back and they werenīt nearly as talented as those LeBronze teams.
