Default Computer help please

Out of the blue (seemingly) my cd and dvd rom are simply gone off of my computer. That makes zero sense. I barely used them, but....

Will I have to buy something or will taking it to my schools computer center help.

did someone or something accidently hit your PC?
It's possible the wires might have come loose inside the unit.

Does it still have power?
It could be a bios thing too.

If you're not comfortable messing with hardware then take it to your schools's tech center. Stupid **** happens to PCs all the time even if you don't do anything.

Someone may have dropped it, but yeah the power works, Im using it right now. Aside from that there's really nothing wrong with my computer.

if you've ever taken apart your drive, you will see that behind the wires there are little tabs which can be altered.

those may have been knocked out. you will have to consult a tech specialist.

play it safe. take it to your schools computer center. most likely your drivers were deleted somehow, maybe a virus. if you want to fix it yourself like shadow said you will need to go into BIOS (f2 i believe) when your computer starts and reenable your drives. but your best bet is to take it to a professional if you dont know what your doing because if you mess up something else in BIOS you could really shoot yourself in the foot.

Just make sure your ide and power cables are secure, open up your computer and completely unplug them. Boot up your computer and shut down. Replug and boot up again.

I have successfully used a reset point to deal with a situation like this (drivers got corrupted). All I did was reset it to the day before and it was fine.
