Yeah, because Durant decided to score whenever he felt like it. In the tough quarterfinal with Russia they trailed most of a first half in which Durant scored 19 points. He scored 17 (38 total) in the 1st quarter alone against Lithuania in the semifinal killing the game off right out of the gate. In the final he scored another 20 in the first half. Even Bron cannot score on a FIBA floor like that.

You guys actully belive that team would beat the Spanish team? I have not checked their roster, but I belive it is:
PG: Ricky Rubio/Jose Calderon
SG: Navarro
SF: Rudy Fernandez
PF: Pau Gasol/Ibaka
C: Marc Gasol
This team has played much more togheter and know how to play FIBA basketball. They were close in the final game against USA in the last Olympics. You could argue that this team is stronger because of Rubio, Marc and Ibaka

Putting similar All-Star level talents knocks this problem out completely. Hell, Charles Barkley's NBA Rising Stars team could make some noise in the Olympics. Wall, Irving and Cousins was beasting.

Rubio is injured. Besides that, he would never start over Calderon. Spain's team will be something like this:
PG Calderon/Rodriguez/Sada
SG Navarro/Llull
SF Fernandez/Mumbru
PF P. Gasol/Reyes
C M. Gasol/Ibaka
With the last place being between guys like Claver, San Emeterio, and Vazquez.
And yes, Spain would toy with any of these US rosters being suggested here. The level of delusion and arrogance being displayed in this thread is appalling.

The teams listed wouldn't win anything in the olympics. Keep in mind that FIBA basketball is very different to NBA basketball, the average NBA player would struggle in such a situation. Extreme talents such as Durant, LeBron and Kobe are unstoppable at every level but these other guys wouldn't be nearly as successful.
