Default Aaron Gray signs two year contract

Quote:
Aaron Gray has agreed to re-sign with the Raptors on a two-year agreement.

Gray signed a one-year contract with Toronto last offseason.

I liked Gray. Solid backup C.

Good signing...glad to see him back on the team. IMO every team needs a player like Gray, someone who can play interior D and crash the boards.

Gray can't ever be more than a third center in a contender, not a real contributor. I'd prefer a young player with more potential, although this is hard to find at the center position. Or even give minutes to Ed Davis at C, considering the PF is overcrowded.

All the moves this summer are to make the team more watchable for the casual fan, maybe also to try to get a playoff spot (I don't think we will be near the playoffs though)

I thought Gray had a good year (and he's only 27). I much prefer him to Maglore. I think this is a good move to have a tough guy with enough size to play against the real centres of the NBA while Val matures. It's hard to find guys with his size that can actually play (and know their role).

Obviously its not a huge move that will get us to the playoffs but it makes sense.

Gray = 4ppg/6rpg center = $2.5 million a year.

Asik = 3ppg/5rpg center = $8.3 million a year.

I would try to find something similar for fields but I don't want to slit my wrists today.

If you compare Gray to Asik, that means your basketball knowledge is very limited. Which is something I had realized by now, by the way.

I mean... Asik was one of the best backup centers in the league last season. Gray is useless.

Let's see here... Raptors biggest (non-draft) offseason moves:

1. Throw money at Nash.... and fail.
2. Sign Landry fields to absurd contract to lure Nash..... fail.
3. Re-up Aaron Gray for two years.... irrelevant.
4. Qualifying offer to Sonny Weems.... irrelevant
5. Sign Kyle Lowry.... decent

I can barely contain my excitement.

Both Asik and Gray aren't going to make some huge impact for their teams.

Let's save that for a quality free agent that will.
