I will stand by my words I've told my dad (longtime faithful Cowboys fan): Dallas will never win another Superbowl with Romo behind center.

wrong

"THE GIANTS" have 8 playoff wins, 5 on the road

these guys have 52 teammates that effect the game believe it or not...

Not to mention numerous coaches who devise game plans and teach their players.

....but anyways, while you're right that it's a team game, there is no denying that the Giants would not have won without Eli playing extremely well.

Montana had GREAT teams around him, all-time elite level talent and coaches.....but he played great. He deserves credit for being able to lead his team as the quarteback to all those superbowls. He did his part and then some in all their runs.....but so did a lot of other people on the team.

All you can do as a quarterback is do your job well. This is magnified in the big games. If you do your job, you won't be criticized.

Romo has NOT held up his end of the bargain in the big games - in most cases he's one of if not the biggest reason that the team loses.

Yea, cuz the giants would've still won 8 playoff games if Eli was throwing 4th quarter picks like the infallible tony romo...

it's not true though Carbine...just look at the links I posted of Romo's stats in big moments, he has better numbers than Brady.

yeah, he muffed a fcking snap back in the day...there is MUCH more to look at

and EVERY QB has thrown INTs in the 4th Q

guess what?...Romo will probably throw about 10 INTs next year, and I am SURE a few of those will be in the 4th where QBs have to pass more...it happens!!!

Eli threw MORE picks in the 4th than Romo last year, and their whole career...amazing isn't it?

Eli has thrown more picks than mike Vick in his career also, which clearly makes Vick the better clutch qb, no?

I don't know why you're fighting this.

Romo has played in these big games:

Seattle '06 - muffed snap

Giants '07 playoffs - 18/36, 1td/1int, 200 yards....his receivers dropped one or two passes though. His stats don't reflect his play, he wasn't brutal....but he didn't play well.

'08 Ravens regular season, game 15 - The team held their destiny in their hands for the last two games. If they win, they're in the playoffs.

Romo - 24/45, 250 yards, 2tds/2ints....he was average at best. Tossed some really questionable INT's. Just poor decisions that drastically effect the game.

'08 Eagles regular season game 16
- Cowboys win, they're in. Virtually a playoff game.

Romo - 21/39, 183 yards, 1 ints, 0 touchdowns, 2 lost fumbles.

He just didn't play well. Bottom line.

'09 Playoffs vs Eagles
- He played well. No doubt about it.

'09 Playoffs vs. Vikings - 22/35, 198 yards, 0TD/1INT, 2 lost fumbles

Romo didn't play as bad as his numbers suggest. He was getting hit a lot. I don't give him a pass for 3 turnovers though, ball security is something that is important. Even if your line doesn't hold up, you should be aware enough to protect the ball.

'11 Cowboys regular season game 16 - He played pretty good....however another one of those "Romo moments." I didn't have any problems really with his play overall though. He was good, not great.

Conclusion:

He doesn't have a good track-record in the big games. He just doesn't.

That doesn't mean it can't change. But he hasn't been good in the big games thus far.

I wouldn't say he has a "bad" track record either...just "average"...it isn't nearly at extreme "choke" the level that the common NFL fan likes to believe it is...

you can find questionable post season games in every single QB that has ever been there...but people like to pretend it is only Romo that doesn't show up...

anyway, I hate how when we compare these two players, the arguement for Eli is "wins"...that is a team stat, not an individual stat...these guys are on teams...it is completely disrespectful to the rest of the roster when suggesting that the QB is the one winning and losing games.

Eli has more Super Bowl wins than Tony has playoff wins.

Keep in mind as well that as per Primetime, Eli Manning's best receiver would be third string on the Cowboys.

AGAIN, you are having to use "wins" (something that the GIANTS do, not Eli) as your arguement...that is the noly way this is a debate...

if Eli had the exact same numbers but NO RINGS, this wouldn't even be a debate at all...

But rings are always a part of it. Especially with quarterbacks, which is arguably the most important position in sports.

Dan Marino consistently put up better numbers than Joe Montana, but you'd be hard pressed to find someone that says Marino was the better QB.

not true at all, Montana has a career passer rating of 92.3...Marino 86.4

and I have seen a few people that rank Marino as he GOAT dispite never winning a ring...no one has Bradshaw (4 rings) > Marino (0 rings)

if rings are a part of ranking the QB position only, then it shouldn't be the MAIN thing factoring in IMO...rings are a team stat, not an individual stat.
