Default Do you think the Big 3 era will be more entertaining than big 2?

In the past we know it has taken a superstar and a clear sidekick to win a title. There have always been exceptions and such but that has been the norm. With boston, heat, now the lakers, nets if the trade goes through, etc now all having big 3s, this how the league will be now. OKC has one as well. After this year the torch was officially passed to big 3 era and I don't see any team winning without a big 3 for the future x number of years.

Do you think it will be more fun to watch? Worse benches and scrubs, but 3 top 15 or so NBA players on one team instead of the past 2 and a good cast? Less individual talent taking over and more 2 big name players taking turns while a 3rd also contributes?

Agreed, but from 00 to 2010 if you wanted to build a contender, a t3-5 player and a top 15-20 player is enough to contend. Now its not enough. It takes 3 top 20 players on one team to try to win.

I think you're really pressing the term "big 3"

The Lakers for instance, are by no means a big 3. They're an elite group of aging, on the decline, starters who used to be among the best in the league.

Nash isn't top 20 anymore
Kobe isn't top 8 anymore
Gasol has fallen off entirely
Bynum is probably a top 12-15 player when he acts right

A big 3 takes at least 2 top 10 players and I'm not sure the Lakers have 1 of those on their team.

Boston as constructed is not a big 3 either. New Jersey will be when they acquire Dwight perhaps, although I think they're more of a mix between Miami and LA.

If you have 3 of the top 15 players on a single team, that only leavs 5 teams to have a legit shot of doing anything.

Big 3's have been around forever though, KAj, Worth & Magic to Run TMC to Spreewell, Camby & Houston.

Big 3's have and will always be around.

However, big 3's consisting of 3 of the top 15 players are a very rare thing, considering there could only be 5 to begin with..

Would you consider the grizzlies to have a legit big 3?

Marc Gasol- Top 3 Center
Rudy Gay- Top 5 SF
Zbo- We will have to say when he is %100, but in 2011 he was a top 5 PF, and in the 2011 playoffs he was the 2nd best behind Dirk

of all the "big 3s" , they are the only one who is paint dominant

I think youre just seeing what you want to see. Kinda easy to see a big 3 on every team if you look for it. But usually its just one star, another pretty good guy and then maybe a 3rd best guy on the team.

I mean, Wade, Lebron and Bosh... Bosh hardly deserves to be put on the same level as Wade and Lebron.

nash at this worst is still better than Joe johnson
Kobe is better than dwill, dwill cant even win 30 games last year
gasol still had 17 and 10 last year as a 3rd option with no pg
bynum is a top 10 player when acts right

Kobe wasn't better than

Durant
LeBron
Howard
CP3
Westbrook
Love last year

He won't be better than a healthy Wade or Dirk this year

I don't consider JJ part of a big 3. Then Miami is a big 4.
