AlexKennedyNBA It sounds like Landry Fields' new deal would pay him $5 million in year one, $5.2 million in year two and $9.8 in year three. Poison pill.
Errr what are they thinking ?..I would rather they just signed Nash without fields. Can't see him helping the team
Well this does help our chances of Nash in the sense that the Knicks wanted to S&T Fields to the Suns for Nash, they can't do that at all now because he is now tied up in the offer sheet process for 3 days, if the Knicks match the offer Fields can't be traded.
The downside however is that the Knicks are probably not going to match and we will be suck with a shitty player on a shitty contract.
I don't care what you say, I like Fields. For that money, maybe not but he can be a good player in a system run by Nash. But this all depends on if we sign Nash or not.
The whole point of this signing is to get Nash away from NYK. PHX was interested in Fields, and for Knicks to acquire Nash they needed to sign and trade Fields as part of a deal to get Nash. With this deal, Knicks either match Fields, try to throw in Shumpert for Nash if Nash agrees to take less than 9 mil/yr. This move effectively takes NYK out of the running for Nash regardless of if they match or not.
As for Raps getting Fields... really hoping NYK matches...
