76ers trade for Dorell Wright from Warriors
Last week, the team agreed to a 1-year contract with shooting guard Nick Young and reportedly decided to use their amnesty clause on forward Elton Brand and his $18.2 million contract. Tuesday, the team acquired shooting forward Dorell Wright from the Golden State Warriors, reportedly for the rights to a previous draft choice. This season will be the last of Wright's contract; he will make $4.1 million. Young also has a 1-year deal, worth about $6 million.
In Wright, the Sixers get a 6-7 forward who can shoot the ball from distance. Two seasons ago, he made 194 of 516 (37.6 percent) three-pointers, both NBA highs. He also averaged 16.4 points that season. This past season, Wright averaged 10.3 points and went 105-for-292 from three-point range (36 percent). He has missed only one game the past two seasons, starting each of the other 143.
