Yawin Smallwood is quite the player. Leads nation in TFL, top 15 in total tackles, sacks, and solo tackles. Might be the best player to ever play LB at UConn.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him develop into a first round pick this year, he is that good.

I think Florida should be a bit higher, and while Texas looked really good last night, Florida should be ranked ahead of them, they've beat A&M and Tennessee. I don't think Boise St should be ranked.

Quite the fall USC took there.

They've only got a couple more chances to make sure the fix is in for the SEC, so I'm afraid you're going...

that's really not fair. oregon put in their bench half way through the second quarter, that's when arkansas state actually started scoring.

Quick thoughts:

Teams that shouldn't be ranked - Boise State, Mississippi State (barely beat Troy).

Should be lower - Oklahoma

Should be higher (by a few spots at most) - Texas, Florida, UCLA

They allowed to 34 to Arkansas State, when they put up 57? The Arkansas State game meant nothing for Oregon in terms of judging their defense. And Oregon's offense is just as or more high powered than USC's, especially in the backfield.

oregon plays at a fast pace so that arkansas state game is close to meaningless. football math doesn't work that way anyway. just because team A scored whatever and team B scored less on said team, that doesn't really mean team A is better.

oregon's secondary is banged up but york's injury might be getting overlooked. let's not forget they're also rolling with a redshirt freshman QB. he's looked good, even better than thomas imo, but we don't really know he he reacts in pressure games.

college gameday goes to tally this week.

any clemson fans around for a friendly wager? i noticed the line is -13/-14 points. i'll take the points.

let me get this out of the way first as i won't be throwing out compliments for the rest of the week: you guys have a better offense than us. straight up. it's a narrow gap, but i do think your receiving corp and boyd is enough to set you apart.

death valley is never an easy place to play in either. in up or down years, i credit you guys for showing out and making noise. outside of blacksburg, death valley is the place i hate playing the most in the ACC, especially at night. no excuses from me. you guys outworked and were better prepared. ok then...

last year, i wouldn't have taken this line. we were probably overrated due to the fact we were so inexperienced. i think people fell in love with the last two recruiting classes and just assumed fsu was a shoe in for best team in FL and best team in the ACC.

this year? if anything, i think you guys are overrated. you lost a ton on both lines and you have a new DC. you also had trouble putting away an auburn team that struggled to close out UL monroe. i can't believe that game last week btw. UL monroe was probably partying all week after beating arkansas and auburn doesn't put them down until late. auburn is simply not that good this year. if that's not enough, ball state hung 28 points on your asses and don't look now but WVU is probably running in another TD.

that said, manuel and thompson will be 100% and are going to want to erase last year's memory. the run blocking is much improved while your o-line has shown some struggles. fsu had so many key injuries last year we were just throwing shit at the wall to see what stuck. hell, we put thompson at wildcat vs. you guys. dude hasn't played QB in years and was probably not even prepped to do anything close to that. that won't happen this year. the run will be established, in one way or another. wilder is a year older now and has said he wants to use his size and physicality more when he gets called up. i'm more concerned with the pass blocking as they'll keep manuel pressure free and they have gotten beat badly several times this season.

i think manuel's multi INT games are a thing of the past. he's done great at picking his spots and making good decisions since late last season, especially going into that bowl game and the game itself.

defense...i think any impartial party will give the edge to the noles by far. outside of bama, i think they have the best D in the country. i think their front 7 is the best, period. you guys are giving up nearly 200 yards a game rushing and have an inexperienced secondary. this category's not close...

statistically, they're the best D in the country, but just throw that shit out. i think CFB lends itself to misleading stats. given fsu has faced two cupcakes and comparing across conferences, especially this early...it's whatever.

we'll be able to put hunter in nickel packages and that will keep you guys from running watkins 1 on 1 on the outside. i mean, this will only work if the front 4 gets the pressure they need, which i think they do.

i can't see your team scoring into the 30s. i don't even see a team in the nation that will do that on this defense...maybe oregon.

we both have great returners and the game can shift at any time between greene and the guys you throw out there.

outside of offense, i fail to see where clemson has any significant advantage.

anyway, i look for fsu to give boyd all he can handle and pressure him all day. rhodes is going to bump and run watkins. he's the second best CB in the ACC imo...only behind amerson. hell, he's arguably the second best CB in the whole nation. likely a first round pick when he comes out later this year.

on top of that, we'll have freshman ronald darby in the wings. the coaching staff is so high on this guy they say he can be the best DB in nole history. given there was a dude named deion sanders that played here...that's some damn high praise. there was even word that he was challenging rhodes for a while. the guy's range is insane. add some weight and i see the next mark barron. you're gonna hear this guy's name in the future.

watkins will get his but those two are gonna make him work for every inch...

offensively, johnson and freeman will wear you down and we'll rotate wilder in to lower the boom and grind out it out in short yardage situations. mind you, dude is fast too so he's not some gadget FB or something.

WR's? greene's the main guy but smith is there too. kelvin benjamin will run X routes and he's more of the possession receiver.

so, bring your little fruity, bright ass fluorescent orange shirts and your foam cat paws down and make a bet. there has to be at least one clemson fan on here. don't hide behind your little chuck e. cheese coach. i'm giving up the points...you don't even have to get the upset. score prediction: fsu - 38, clemson - 21

I'm just saying I watched Nebraska play Arkansas State and their offense only put up 3 points (their defense scored a TD, and they recovered a punt at NU's 15 that might have grazed the punt returner's foot and got a FG). Nebraska's defense has been shitty this year. UCLA put up the second most yards that an NU defense has ever allowed last week. NU's weak defense basically held them to 3 while they put up 34 on Oregon, so I wondered if there's any reason to be concerned. I don't think your defense wants to give up that many yards and points, whether starters or not, to a team like that. Oregon's defense is 68th in points allowed and they haven't played a good team yet. I know it could very well mean nothing, but I'm just a bit curious. I guess we'll find out next if their defense is good or not.
