Margus Hunt, DE for SMU is 6'8' with 4.6 speed, an 82 inch wingspan and 36 inch vertical and an absolute monster. Blocks FG's at ease and is a freakish DE, probably will be a 2nd-3rd round pick. He blocked 8 FG's/extra points in his first 14 games with SMU.

but yeah, I agree with you.

Depends on the rules. A number of places have weight limit restrictions where if you're over a certain weight then you have to play on the line.

they could always pull a vrabel. line him up on the offensive line and he ends up flaring out for a catch. of course, the problem is most offensive lineman have terrible pass catching ability....

either way, too hard to tell in this case. i'm not about to speculate on a 6'8" 8th grader who i haven't seen play. if he keeps growing, his lateral movement will be hampered and his center of gravity just would be off. dudes that tall generally turn to basketball eventually. let me know where he's at in three years.

Well, there's rules against that as well. They can pretty much only advance the ball in cases of a fumble, interception or a kickoff coming to them.

JWJ truckin' folks. he said after the game he thought teammates were pushing him forward

anyway, he's made huge progress from last year just in being more patient, following his blocks and pass protection. he's starting to look like a RB instead of just a physical athlete that can occasionally run. it wouldn't surprise me if he's the feature back when thompson leaves.

he was hellbent on being a RB after being recruited as a LB. many criticized his stubbornness and he did admittedly struggle with the playbook his first year. he said if he didn't pick it up this year, he'd concede and go back to LB. i think many people know that story by now but there you go.

thompson surprises me more...he crushed two vertebrae last year and i really think this is the best the guy has ever run.

the o-line is playing above average but not good, so that's another positive sign. watson has been playing less than two years of football altogether so that is crazy in itself. he's learning fast but right now he's relying mostly on athleticism.

Washington is playing tough against Stanford right now but I doubt they can keep it up unless they figure out how to block the Stanford D.

Chizik worth more than '10 Sabans,' Auburn's Pat Dye says

Legendary former Auburn football coach Pat Dye urged the crowd of more than 100 at the Montgomery Quarterback Club on Tuesday night to support the current head coach, Gene Chizik, and the players during the Tigers’ tough 1-3 start.

“Don’t question the guy we got leading the program,” said Dye, who reminded the crowd of Chizik’s part in three undefeated teams, including Auburn’s 2004 and 2010 squads. “I wouldn’t swap him for 10 (Alabama coach Nick) Sabans.

“Saban is the best coach in the country — I’ll grant him that. But he ain’t a better man than Gene Chizik.”

Forgot all about this game. An "upset" wouldn't really surprise me to be honest. Not sure Stanford is a legit top 10 team and Washington is usually tough at home.

Washington has no business leading this game. Their offensive line is god awful regardless of the slurping Jesse Palmer if giving Stanford's front 7.
