I completely dismissed the basketball portion, because basketball has minimal reason for realignment. You're right, Maryland is a nice get for basketball. Their football team has been mediocre to average at best in the ACC.

Because they're probably the fifth best team in the ACC this year? And I'm not completely sold on Turgeon either. Maybe if Gary Williams were still the coach and 20 years younger. They will fall further back when Cuse and ND arrives. Probably the same with Pitt. Even if Maryland leaves, the new ACC will still be on top of the college basketball world. In the Big 10, they are behind OSU, Michigan, Indiana, MSU, and Wisconsin. Perhaps more. Their recruiting class next year doesn't look so great. He had a real chance to make a statement with the Harrison twins and whiffed. Although it's near impossible to beat UK in recruiting right now.

Football injuries mean little in the ACC in the grand scheme of things. I say this as an ACC supporter my entire life, our above average teams are below average in the SEC, Big 10, and Big 12. Just the way it is right now in the conference.

If they want to leave? Good riddance. They provide little to the ACC right now anyway. I wish they would take Wake Forest and Boston College with them.

Maybe, maybe not. The thing is it's a really young team. A lot of the Fr. and So. get playing time (7 of the 9 players who get at least double digits minutes are Fr or So). It has potential to be really good.

Turgeon is recruiting. #14 class last year. One of the top PGs for next year. Gary Williams was too old school. He didn't want to jump through hoops for recruits. You have to take into consideration of a new coach and that we lost our best player early 2 years in a row (Williams and Stoglin). Things look to be in the right direction.

They're down to using an effing Freshman LB as a QB. Not saying they'd be world beaters without the injuries, but injuries do matter.

Basketball... They were right behind UNC and Duke for a long time. But then it slowed down in Williams' later years (but Duke and UNC had their down years, as well). The conference is mediocre in football anyways. The Big 10 could use some more positives with OSU and PSU dragging the conference through the mud over the past couple years. I really don't see why you're hating on Maryland.

I heard Stoglin leaving was a good thing and since when did Roddy Peters become one of the top PGs in his class? He's good, but not out of the usual of your typical Maryland recruit.

And injures matter in terms of this ACC season. But even with a healthy team they would remain in the back of one of the major conferences for football. That was my main point.

I'm not hating on Maryland. I'm just saying they add very little to the Big 10. Their football is going to be low-end, while the basketball (means little in realignment anyway) will be a middle of the pack, occasional top 3-5 team.

They're also #58 in the US News college rankings. Puts them behind OSU, Illinois, PSU, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Northwestern. They fit in academically, I'm not denying that, but again just adding to the median.

All I'm saying is Maryland adds very little to the conference in academics, sports, and tv markets. It just seems so random and a lateral move. Which isn't a good enough reason to poach them, imo.

Kansas State in some serious trouble down 45-24 with about two minutes left in the third quarter. They've got the ball deep in Baylor territory but I don't know if they can stop Baylor enough to catch-up.

Thank goodness KState is going to lose. They're the worst of the three undefeated teams, imo.

This OU-WVU game is good.

Bama should get that #2 spot before Notre Dame, honestly.

You know you want Notre Dame and Oregon.

Offense versus defense. Tradition versus new age. East versus West. Most importantly: two undefeated teams (if they remain).

Damn, clutch drive from OU. What happened to WVU this season?

#42 overall and #9 PG according to Rivals. Not that those things mean a lot to me (we've had much more luck with the 3 stars than the higher ones).

You are hating. You act like you can predict the future. Nothing but negative things to say about the basketball program which is odd. Both of the coaches for basketball and football are still pretty new. Give them some time instead of completely writing them off. Both of the football and basketball teams were doing really well in the early 2000s. It's a good recruiting area (though maybe moreso for basketball) and there's good potential (again, moreso for basketball). Maybe the football team will stay mediocre, but they're getting a good basketball program. The women's bball team has been very good, but yeah, nobody cares about that.

DC is a top 10 TV market. Baltimore is top 25. Good recruiting area. Quality program that doesn't get into trouble like other Big 10 teams. Good at other sports. What big time football programs are out there that they could add? If they could, there would be talk about them, but it's about Rutgers and Maryland.

NO.

Playing Western Carolina today should disqualify them from that discussion. Disgraceful scheduling practices by SEC teams have to be punished. Wofford, Jacksonville State, Alabama A&M? Glorified high school teams.

It's been the best conference for a while, but SEC schools don't have the guts to consistently play quality teams outside of their region like ND does.

Questionable pass interference call on Stanford there to put Oregon around midfield.
