Default Grizz trade Dante Cunningham to the Timberwolves for Ellington

Darren Wolfson: Told Ellington to Memphis for Cunningham is just about done. Verbal agreement is in place. Just have to submit paperwork. #Twolves Twitter

While Dante was a great energy player off the bench, we really dont have much playing time with Darell Arthur back from missing all of last season. Ellington is nothing special, but we just had too many bodies at the 4 and 5, and need a shooter. Ellington has showed he is very average. He will probably not play much more than Cunningham. And there are better combo gaurds off the bench in Wroten and Selby. But wtf. The wolves are getting a solid player. Hopefully we can do something with this guy

Haddadi is an unrestricted free agent who hasn't signed anywhere yet.

They'll most likely re-sign him on a 1 year deal like last season. he is a solid backup to Gasol.

He wants to resign in Memphis but no plans have been made yet, he always is a late addition.

I'm actually kind of bummed about this trade. I loved Dante's energy and defense off the bench and his hustle was unmatched and he definitely was a game changer in some games. Ellington better be a consistent knockdown 3 point shooter or this deal was pointless. I also suspect that Pargo is included somehow because the Grizzlies were looking to buy him out or trade him and his salary is only $1mil and expires after this year. The Grizzlies must have Darrell Arthur back 100% healthy if this deal happens.

He had some of my favorite plays from last year.

Im hoping the medical staff is predicting that Arthur should be at %100 or close come the start of the season. If he is then it doesnt really matter. Just another guy at the end of the bench to hang with pargo. I loved Dante but there really is a log jam. We get back our best 2 pfs from injury now. I would hate for dante to just sit in the bench. He can come to the wolves and do something for them. Guy will give it every night and make impact plays

I don't watch many Wolves games, but every time I saw Ellington play, he looked decent. Good enough to not get 25 minutes one night and then 25 total minutes in the next 4 games.

I didn't even know Cunningham left the Blazers.

Traded to the Bobcats at the end of the 2011 season with Pryzbilla in the Gerald Wallace trade and was a RFA and the Bobcats didn't match the Grizzlies offer. He is on a really cheap contract too and was great for this team as a tweener PF. It was another moment in the Bobcats FO to not match.

Hollinger's analysis on the trade machine has this trade netting the Grizzlies -3 wins but who knows. A knockdown shooter would be nice, especially since the Grizzlies had 4 PFs on the team with Cunningham.

Solid trade for the Wolves. With Williams moving to SF this means that Cunningham will backup Love.

Ellington is a decent scorer but he is an undersized SG who will give you nothing but scoring. If he isn't on then he shouldn't play. I don't think I saw him pass once last season.
