Question re. Lin/NBA contracts
Sorry for another Lin thread here but could one of the resident salary gurus explain to me what is the perceived wisdom of the Rockets "backloading" his deal so that he gets over half of his money in the 3rd and final year of his contract?
I've also heard the term "poison pill" referenced here. Is that a strategy where a team quite deliberately overpays a player in the last year of his contract in order to scare off other potential suitors? Outbidding a team but not handicapping yourself in the short-medium term, that was what I inferred from what I was reading.
