But he promised 50 and delivered.

And guess what: I have not heard one thing about him delivering since the week after he did. But this **** is brought up every week.

Promising 50 and delivering is something that barely ever happens. Seriously how often has an athlete spoken out, made a guarantee that unlikely (keep in mind he had only 1 50 point game before this, and had gone 5 years without getting one) and followed through, in spectacular fashion no less, putting on a dominant clutch performance?

You never hear about it though.

This is BALL !! Not tidlywinks.
If you're gonna talk-the-talk, you better walk-the-walk.

Yeah, and he did walk the walk. He talked the talk, and then walked the walk, at a level few in SPORTS HISTORY before him have done. He promised 50, a feat he had achieved once in his career and that 99.9% of players in NBA history have NEVER done, and he DID IT.

And he gets NO praise for this. Only hate for having a ****ty game against the nonfactor Blazers.

geeWiz- I think you are forgetting that Gilbert guaranteed 50 on the Blazers TWICE, and failed miserably both times. The first game he had 9. The second he had 19 (ten of which came in the 4th when the game was already decided in Portland's favor and much of them being free throws in the final minutes).

So yes, he has followed through with a guarantee once but out of three times. 1/3 the time being right is no good when the other 2/3 are not even close.

Another way of looking at it is he only got 82 of his guaranteed 150 points over 3 games. Thats barely more than half of what he guaranteed.

Lol, I think that's main key to Arena's craziness. He doesn't beat up people or go insane, instead he takes that insanity and turns it into motivation, at the same time acting weird and knowing that it attracts attention. Gilbert may be an attention seeker, but he's one helluve a funny dude and a great basketball player.
