just figured out what this whole Gangnam Style phenomenon was today. Had no idea this song was such a big hit nor that its become such a huge thing in pop culture circles, man am I not up to date when it comes to stuff like this...lol.

can't underestimate American record label influence/promotion. i give Scooter Braun all of the credit for PSY's recent influx of popularity. once PSY signed with him, he was put on every major music promotion show in the U.S. in about a 2 week period, then Gangnam Style its #1 on iTunes and starts breaking all of these records as well as youtube views/likes skyrocketing. its crazy how late people are, but crazier how much more exposure it got when i'd have thought it already hit its peak at 100mill

I think his first album was in January 2001. Check the math. Koreans need to chill on their love of him a bit, they are acting like they wont the world cup or something. First Jeremy Lin got the Taiwanese beaming, now PSY got Koreatown going bonkers...What else does Asia have up its slim fitting sleeve?

seriously this is the first time Korea has made such an influence world wide since i've been alive, well relevant influence. i've never seen Korea really mentioned in American news for anything that isn't based on the South and N.Korea conflict. and to make such an impact in the entertainment industry with a newer style of music gaining momentum around the world(Kpop/Jpop) is refreshing, especially when they do it with a song thats almost entirely in Korean that nobody understands.
i get its being overplayed and hyped especially for those that heard/knew about it a long time ago and probably heard it a billion times already where they're sick of it, but there are tons of people who seem to recently be hearing it for the first time. If youtube views are anything to judge by, it seems the masses are JUST hearing it for the first time.
