Yeah MJ is the unanimous GOAT. There are only two players whose all time ranking is consensus: MJ at #1 and Kobe at #12.

I've been watching the NBA since the mid 80s. MJ is the best player I've seen since that time.

I'm open to KAJ being in the argument but he won titles where he wasn't even the best player on his team (that never happened with MJ), Wilt has the crazy stats but he underperformed in some Finals and he doesn't have enough chips to be considered over MJ IMO, and Bill Russell but I don't consider him even being the best center ever, let alone the GOAT (I would take KAJ, Shaq and Hakeem over him).

MJ has the best overall case when you consider stats, personal accolades and chips.

One could argue that the 'majority', but not 'unanimous'. Unanimous indicates that 100% of people agree.

Mj is however the GOAT for the vast majority.

Gretzky. Mario Lemieux gets occasionally argued I guess but that's more a what if had he been 100% healthy his entire career. Bobby Orr as well but I'd argue that old timers take guys like Kareem/Wilt/Russell over Jordan far more than than they do with Orr over Gretzky.

NHL isn't as popular in America but Gretzky is the closest thing to an unanimous GOAT as your ever going to get in any sport. MJ is the majority GOAT for sure, but you have older folks that disagree and you'll get the dumber newer fans that never saw MJ ready to appoint someone else. Gretzky in the hockey world is just accepted by everybody as untouchable. Jordan is the GOAT but with how we compare players .. he's not untouchable. Just the best combination of everything. For example LeBron comparisons to Jordan were far more heated than say Crosby to Gretzky. I honestly don't think it's possible to surpass Gretzky .. where if some freak came along and went crazy he could be GOAT in the NBA.

No, he's not, because I have Kareem as the NBA GOAT.

Nadal is pretty damn close to Federer, especially factoring in the career long domination he's had against Fed h2h

So the Bulls lost the unanimous GOAT in 1994 and only lost 2 more games than in 1993?

Impact-wise, MJ might not even be Top 20 all-time tbh

GS titles
Federer - 19 (8 Wimbledon, 5 US Open, 5 Australian Open, 1 French Open)
Nadal - 16 (10 French Open, 3 US Open, 2 Wimbledon, 1 Australian Open)

Fed is much more balanced among GSs/surfaces while Nadal has 10 of 16 at one GS on 1 surface - clay.

Weeks at #1
Federer - 302
Sampras - 286
Lendl - 270
Connors - 268
Djokovic - 223
McEnroe - 170
Nadal - 148

Federer has more than double the weeks at #1 than Nadal who is very mediocre compared to many ATGs.

As far as their 14-23 (Fed-Nadal) head-to-head, 15 of Fed's losses were on clay which leaves 14-8 record on all other surfaces. Plus Federer has beaten Nadal the last 4 times they have played (3 times this year).

IMO, Nadal is the clay GOAT, and Federer is the GOAT (overall except on clay).

I agree Federer's the GOAT, but to act like he's the consensus when Nadal is only 3 behind him and dominated him h2h for most of their careers is where I have issue with it

bullshit

Hard court: Federer leads 10-9
Grass court: Federer leads 2-1
Clay court: Nadal leads 13-2

You literally just pulled a number out of your ass. Who does that?

Before this year, Nadal actually led Federer 9-7 on hard court, the tide was turned in a non-prime stretch for Nadal (2017 February-March).

Additionally, Nadal in his prime contended with a level-aged Djokovic for #1, and injuries which cut into his activity. Federer in his prime contended with Roddick and a 19-21 year-old Nadal for #1, who's bulk of points came from the clay season.
