Default Bobcats-Raptors Observations

NEXT: Pistons @ Bobcats
7 p.m. Wednesday TV: News 14

• Center Primoz Brezec deserves a do-over on this season. He's been diagnosed with a bulging disk in his lower back.

The Bobcats hope seven-10 days of rest will get Brezec back on the court. In the meantime, look for rookie Ryan Hollins to continue getting fill-in minutes.

• Coach-general manager Bernie Bickerstaff says there's a lot of interest in acquiring the future first-round pick the Raptors owe the Bobcats. Bickerstaff says he's reluctant to move that asset, but he did throw it into a conversation concerning the Clippers' Corey Maggette. Los Angeles wanted the pick and a small forward.

• Curious tone to Atlanta forward Josh Smith's mea culpa in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution: He apologized to his teammates, his franchise and the Hawks' fans for giving Bobcats fans a two-barreled, middle-finger salute as he left the court Saturday.

So why didn't he apologize to Charlotteans, such as the kids who saw him do it?

I'm not defending the hecklers, who undoubtedly made the situation worse after Smith was ejected. But what's the point of apologizing, if you don't address it to the people offended most?

Smith drew a $25,000 fine from the NBA.

Josh Smith is a punk

What an idiot. He didn't get much out of school.

Did he forget about Fabio?!? I swear, I don't understand why Bernie tries harder with Herrmann than with Hollins. IMO I see much more potential and use for Hollins in Charlotte than I do with Hermmann

I have never liked Hermmann. IMO he is just a waste of roster space.

At worst Hollins would be another Mikki Moore but he has the skills to be Tyson Chandler or even better.

Not to be off-topic or anything, but have you ever seen an Atlanta Hawk home game? People say Charlotte has attendance problems. Hell, I dont know how Atlanta can financially support an NBA team. They must bloat attendance figures severely there, at most I see 5,000 in the stands, and on tv it looks like 4 or 5 people. So im sure Josh Smith didnt have too many people to apologize too.

The Hawks are probably surviving off of the revenue they got when Wilkins was still playing

For real, I have always thought that.
