Default Are we witnessing a really great era in sports?

I know this can sound a little bit odd, because i'm young and didn't saw all the other competitions in the past but..
We are witnesses in a great time for sports history, most of the sports.

For me it's a privilege to watch persons like Michael Phelps, Leo Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Roger Federer, Rafa Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady (well i'm not very cultured in NFL), Derek Jetter, Tiger Woods, Usain Bolt, Kohey Uchimura, and many many others.
(Feel free to add others, from sports that aren't very well known).

It's a golden era for sports, in my opinion.

Kobe is near retirement. The era is coming to an end.

Yes I witnessed personally his game winner vs D-Wade

If you havent seen him live yet, do your best to see him before he goes. We will never see another player on his level

The 00-10 decade for sure has been very special. On top of the athletes you've mentioned and their accomplishement there's the baseball, football, and college football scandals. MMA became legit to the mainstream. Xtreme sports became popular. Great time to be a sports fan

I was going to watch Spain x USA in Barcelona, but i couldn't because i'm saving some money to go to Hungary to see my gf playing at the under 20 european championship.

But i'm possible going to USA in Winter to watch. I'm not the biggest Kobe fan, i don't like the way he plays sometimes but i respect greatness.

I can say that i'm pretty well cultured about all the sports, i'm a sports junkie. I just didn't metioned other guys because i bet that would be someone to say "are you really comparing person X with person Y?"

2008 is better than 2012 IMO.

Phelps and Bolt were at their prime.

Tiger was still his best.

Kobe was also at his prime where after his clutchness gave Redeem Team a gold, then he won next two NBA champions in a row.

Fed vs Rafa feud was great especially that epic match at Wimbledon.

Messi was just reaching his greatness by helping Barca won treble, while Ronaldo scored 42 goals for Man Utd to win EPL and UEFA Champions League.

For me an era is something between a spare of 10 years, like 00-10 or in this case 02-12.

I guess you support crappy teams? Or your adult life is just too short?

Well imo 2008 was the best year for sports maybe ever.

But I think every generation has greatness. All the players you mentioned had past allegories.

The difference now is globalization. Now we can see literally everything and everyone.
