Re: Magic will trade Dwight Howard to Lakers in 4-team deal
Some thoughts after listening to this all morning.
1) Two problems with Brooklyn deal. They didn't want Lopez on his salary and they didn't (where is Wang4Three who talked about the leaks) want to send him to Brooklyn because they were embarrassed at the perception that Brooklyn and Howard had them over a barrel. Bucher said all the information out there about the Brooklyn trade and the daily updates that Dwight wanted out embarrassed the Magic and they wanted him gone as far away from themselves and Brooklyn as possible. The leaking hurt that trade.
2) Larry Coon said Houston had an offer on the table that he knows about. The Houston offer didn't take back enough salary from some reports. (Hmm...why couldn't Houston absorb as much salary? Which two players took up $16M in cap space?) Houston also didn't appear willing to negotiate.
3) It looks like Orlando mgmt got tired of waiting and forced their GM's hand once this got close.
4) Broussard and all the ESPN guys are so full of shit it's not funny.
This deal needed to strip Orlando down, not give them a team that could be so so and clog up their cap. It does that. it does it poorly, i dont see why they didnt push Houston more on a 3 way, or Cleveland, etc.
Orlando are idiots. Houston's deal was better then what they ended up with.
