After this 'trade' they deserve a slow, painful death on the ground of incompetence.

So I hope they get nothing.

I don't know why Atlanta or Houston couldn't get anything done. I know there is uncertainty if he will stay but come on trade him at the deadline if he wants to leave.

If you try to do this trade in 2k12, the Magic AI will ask for both Gasol and Bynum. It's amazing how an actual human can take this trade with a straight face.

HOU offered ORL $12M in space (instead of Afflalo), recent 1st picks, future lottery and unprotected picks. Would've taken bad deals (cont.)

Someone needs to explain to me why Orlando took this offer. Houston's was much better.....honestly, I just don't get it.

Wang4Three suggested Houston's offer was an offer from Morey that he didn't have owner sign off on. Basically it was Morey negotiating something he wasn't going to be allowed to do. It's logical.

There is a suggestion that Houston's offer as is was in one hand, and Orlando ignored it and just went about their business. That strikes me as not logical.

That makes sense. Or maybe Morey got spooked by Howard insisting he won't resign.

But still.........this offer is what I like to call "Grab Bab O' Crap". For one of the best big men in history. The picks are low, the rookies are mid first round, Afflalo is just a role player, and they didn't even get any real cap space. What WAS this?

Why not just take Bynum and couple firsts and roll the dice? I'm baffled.

I get what they did. People wanted them to win the trade. The point is not to win the trade, it's to win the rebuilding. The Net deal sucked, it let them win the trade and lose the rebuild. They'd be a mediocre team that is capped out.

BUT this didn't seem like the ideal way to win the rebuild. You'd think they could have gotten Houston/Cleveland, and find some way to squeeze a better deal.

This felt like they woke up Wednesday with a good plan but a really short window imposed on themselves to get it done.

They didn't want Bynum, they want a top 5 (pray for 1) pick the next two years. Bynum prevents that, plus he's injury prone and requires Max dollars. He's not a good centerpiece unless you believe in him 100%.

I reckon Houston's offer is something on the lines of:

Royce White
Terrence Jones
Marcus Morris
Toronto pick
Dallas pick
Houston pick

for Howard + Richardson/or/Turkgolu

Again, my take on it is Morey made an offer than he couldn't get his owner to sign off on. Morey is not in charge. The "offer all our assets to rent Howard" is something to me that sounds better to a guy playing with someone else's money than to the guy who actually owns the team.

I bet you everything that this has Dan Fegan's name all over this shit. Les is not a stupid owner and he is always willing to take risks. I bet Dan Fegan blackmailed the Magic about future free agents which is why the Magic ended up taking a terrible deal. Like everyone has known along, NO ONE offered a better deal to the Magic than the Rockets. Of course, other teams could offer potentially better deals, however, no one was willing to trade their best talent away for Howard, which is why Houston had the best deal of all.

The Magic just got gang-raped on this trade sadly and it sucks as a Houston fan to come in second yet again. This has nothing to do with Morey nor Les and more to do with Dan Fegan more than likely blackmailing the Magic. Lets not underestimate the power of agents. I'm sure we will see an article on it eventually where the events are explained.
