Will Smith might be making a movie about Michael Jordan's year in the Minor Leagues
"The best basketball player in the world, smack in the prime of his career, abruptly announces that he's retiring -- to pursue a career in professional baseball. If that story sounds like it might make for a compelling movie, you're in luck: According to a report from The Tracking Board, Will Smith's production company, Overbrook Entertainment, has picked up a script about Michael Jordan's year with the Double-A Birmingham Barons.
The screenplay, written by Ben Epstein and currently titled "The Prospect," made it onto the 2017 Black List -- a compilation of the best unproduced scripts of the year, as voted on by Hollywood executives."

I wouldn't spend theater money on it but I'd give it a shot on Netflix. Curious what kind angle they take on it as it's not a hugely successful story. To me it just seemed like a way to deal with things while grieving for his father. Given the time he had taken off of baseball he really didn't do that badly but because anything he does will be compared to his success as a player it's viewed as a failure.
