That is sort of the point, though... With unemployment what it is and other variables, it is Romney who really should have a large lead at the moment, not Obama.

The "new" face in presidential politics usually gets a pretty hefty bump at this stage of the process just by being an alternative to what we already have. He really never got that bump and his trailing in swing states right now is a dire situation for his campaign.

Also, any bump out of the convention is usually offset by the other party's convention, so if the Republicans are relying on the RNC to save them, they should re-think that strategy.

Three months is not a huge amount of time. Romney needs to change the conversation and get the polls going in his direction as soon as possible.

Last year Paul Ryan put forward his budget plan using work from the Heritage Foundation. Ryan is such a supergenius his plan would cut employment to a level not seen since the Korea War....

There's lots and lots of examples of how fraudulent Paul Ryan's numbers are and how he leaves a lot of stuff out and even what he details doesn't add up the way he said. Oh, most of the budget cuts affect the poor, while his tax plan drastically cuts the taxes of incredibly rich people like Romney who already pay well below the top rate, below even the rate of many middle-class voters.

This is why the Ryan pick is so surprising, to me it was desperation move, Ryan is a known quantity and the Democrats have lots and lots of ammo already to use against Ryan. Someone like Rob Portman would not draw as much fire as Ryan will and a lot of that fire is going to stick to Romney.

I think this is the first time that there is only one Protestant among the candidates

1 Protestant, two Catholics and a Mormon.

Also for the second time in a row, no Southerner among the candidates after four elections with Southerners at the top of the ticket.

Politico went out and interviewed GOP campaign pros to find out how they felt about the Ryan pick. Folks who actually have to
get Republicans elected this November are not too happy.

Quote:
Away from the cameras, and with all the usual assurances that people aren’t being quoted by name, there is an unmistakable consensus among Republican operatives in Washington: Romney has taken a risk with Ryan that has only a modest chance of going right — and a huge chance of going horribly wrong....

the most common reactions to Ryan ranged from gnawing apprehension to hair-on-fire anger that Romney has practically ceded the election.

.....And the more pessimistic strategists don’t even feign good cheer: They think the Ryan pick is a disaster for the GOP. Many of these people don’t care that much about Romney — they always felt he faced an improbable path to victory — but are worried that Ryan’s vocal views about overhauling Medicare will be a millstone for other GOP candidates in critical House and Senate races.

....Forget how it plays in close House and Senate races.
“Very not helpful down ballot — very,” said one top Republican consultant.
“This is the day the music died,” one Republican operative involved in 2012 races said after the rollout. The operative said that every House candidate now is racing to get ahead of this issue.
Another strategist emailed midway through Romney and Ryan’s first joint event Saturday: “The good news is that this ticket now has a vision. The bad news is that vision is basically just a chart of numbers used to justify policies that are extremely unpopular.”
....It turned a referendum into a choice,” said one Washington Republican lawyer. “[Choosing Ryan] forfeited the no-real-world-experience point Romney has been building up for months [about Obama] and put a new state in play that was otherwise trending his way [Florida].”

I'm leaning towards Jill Stein but still have plenty of research to do.

And Lol at Paul Ryan. How do people vote republican and not have to declare themselves legally insane?

This one small paragraph highlights your stupidity with perfect concision, mate!

"The Right has become very uniform with no one swaying an iota from the hard right Tea Party standard."

Interesting, mate, I suppose this is how John McCain and Mitt Romney each won republican primary elections, while also encountering resistance from others within this one 'uniform, not one iota of sway, hard right standard'.

They may have to lose a few elections before they realize they need to do a better job of building a coalition if they're going to take the Presidency.

The fallacy of the party mindset is the source of your clear intellectual inferiority. You need the group, mate, in order to feel confident in your beliefs. The democratic party is your thinking machine, mate. All you ever do is agree. You are the party yes-man. And the majority on both sides are people just like you, who allow politicians to win favor by portending to be party generals, ginning up a rivalry mindset, and protecting their own priorities by easily leading your inferior mind astray from where yours should be.

How come you have time to comment in this thread, mate, but you don't have time to participate in threads that illustrate the similarities between Obama and Bush? Because you can't comprehend questioning your party or party leaders, mate! You are the ultimate pawn, the puppet, the DUMMY who does what he's told. Why? Because, mate, chaps like you just want to be part of the crowd. That's your driving force. You aint no confident, articulate bloke reliant on his own intelligence and observation. You need instructions! You are Real Men Wear Green, and you are a proud party retard!

Questioning the democratic agenda, or philosophies, or politicians with a (D) by their name, subjects you to potential alienation from the group! And then what? By nature you lean left more than right, so you don't wanna join the Republicans, and therefore you will simply accept the mold the democratic party fits you for, and not ask questions! That aint no man! That aint no intellectual! You're just a dumb, sad, insecure f a ggot!

Where are your proposals, your suggestions for compromise, your personal philosophies, anything original from you? You aint got none, mate! The fact that there is disagreement within the right wing party shows that at least different groups of people are putting forth different perspectives.

You're just a dumbass, mate. It's quite clear and simple, it really bloody well is.

Mate, how come you got time to make inane commentary in a thread that makes policy elections out to be sporting events, but you ignore threads that tackle with legitimate issues, like the current president strongly resembling the previous president despite promises of change??

See above post, mate. The same thing applies to you.

Thats right mates keep bobbin that head up and down on Obamas lap nice and slow. Just like that, the way all your friends are doing. Mindlessly submit to Obama and any politician with a (D) simply because your a bloody c0ckroach operating solely on the signals of your leader.

Keep that head bobbin goin, mates. Steady and consistent. Oh look, Obama just announced George Bush said you should stop, now youre gonna go twice as long just to show that jerk George Bush what you think of him, arent you, mates!

Yeah, mates, keep thinking youre important. Keep living vicariously through the Democratic party. Its what keeps those politicians in office. You aint gonna score no wins in life on your own! Hell no! Youre too stupid, insecure, and needy. Attach yourself to Democrats, so that when you beat Republicans in anything, youve got a phony reason to feel good about yourself.

Keep it up real mens wear green, you ugly insecure loser. Keep it up kevinnyc you feminine intellectual poser.

Let's file this one under obvious headline is obvious.

Rage Against the Machine guitarist no fan of Paul Ryan

You don't say.

EDIT:

I guess there is more to the story. It turns out that Paul Ryan's favorite band is Rage Against the Machine. Which is pretty funny. So Tom Morello of Rage wrote an op-ed for Rolling Stone.

Quote:
Paul Ryan's love of Rage Against the Machine is amusing, because he is the embodiment of the machine that our music has been raging against for two decades. Charles Manson loved the Beatles but didn't understand them. Governor Chris Christie loves Bruce Springsteen but doesn't understand him. And Paul Ryan is clueless about his favorite band, Rage Against the Machine.

Personally, I bet he likes their cover of Pistol Grip Pump. I bet the chorus runs through his head when he thinks about lowering the top tax rates.
