Default What Magazines Do You All Read?

Just curious what magazines you guys have subscriptions to/read

I have subscriptions to:

Sports Illustrated
Baseball America
USA Today Sports Weekly
ESPN The Magazine (Don't know why, this magazine sucks)
Slam
Dime

I read SI, Baseball America and USA Today Sports Weekly cover to cover, the others I read sparingly.

What about you guys?

Playboy is pretty much the only one I'm still reading.

Also from time to time I buy this local magazine called 'Science Illustrated'.

The old joke about just getting playboy for the article? Yeah well it's funny because it's true, Playboy had one of the highest standards of journalism available during it's peek and many of them remain notable classics to this day - the thing is that high brow thought presented in a colloquial way was akin to a social crime, in the developing anti-intellectuality of the time it was seen as more acceptable to be uninterested in words than to actively enjoy learning - thus people joked they only read the articles to make the pretence they didn't read the articles or they only read the articles as 'cover'.
That said of course people enjoyed the pretty women flaunting their sexuality, and they'd much rather that be known.
Our whole society is so wrapped up in pretence and pretence within pretence, it's kind of weird. Will we ever untangle these things or are we forever going to chase our tail in this way?

I typed in the interest "poetry" and got this person...

Quote:
You're now chatting with a random stranger. Say hi!
You and the stranger both like Poetry.
Stranger: For decades, thousands of users chatted. Not a single long time stranger friend. As the only mysterious extraordinary doctoral elitist hacker in eternal lonesome of wellbeing.
Stranger: I am many things, down to earth surpassing metaphysics.
Stranger: The purest Virgin of Eternity.
Stranger: A God among Gods.
Stranger: Dweller of Earth and Beyond.
Stranger: With no Ideals and Hatred.
Stranger: My playground, the Carnival of Carnages.
Stranger: I welcome thee strangers for a chatter.
You: Are thee male or female?
Stranger: Hidden in my stories is the secret power of the unseen.
You: Treat yourself as if you already are what you wish to become.
Stranger: To be truly ignorant, be content with your own knowledge.
You: The poorest people in the world are those who have more money than what to do with.
Stranger: It's not about changing the world. It's about doing our best to leave the world the way it is. It's about respecting the will of others and believing in your own...
You: ...but we must push the limits of others, if without pushing the limit we will not go forward on this blue speck of dust floating through darkness...
You: ...if we don't push those limits, new idea will now arise.
Stranger: To be truly ignorant, be content with your own knowledge.
Stranger: What are you capable of? Are you worthless? To me you are nothing.
You: Our understanding of the universe and the vastness of it makes us all equal value, to you I am nothing, to the universe we're the same.
Stranger: Good, now go disconnect.
You: I must not, it cannot be.
You: Sometimes to reach the sky, you must climb a cactus.
You: No I am sad.
You have disconnected.

ESPN The Magazine (Agreed it sucks, but it was only like 5 bucks for the year)
Runners World

That's all I'm subscribed to. Once in a while I'll pick up a Scientific American at the store or whatever else looks interesting.

- slam
- decibel

all i can read religiously and i'm way behind on decibel.

used to read SI but i noticed i was only really interested in 1/3 of the material over time since i read similar stuff elsewhere...or shit, they put it online. there's also 'blitz' which is sort of a betting/fantasy mag.

astronomy mag here and there.

eastbay was something i used to get a lot of but i'd consider that more of a catalog.......

I only really ever read The Economist and I only do that occasionally. I'm more of a newspaper guy.
