I know this is far fetched, but Chicago has a chance to do this (without Rose that is). Think about it:
-Good defense
-No true star (without Rose)
-Solid depth
etc etc.

They lost pretty much the entire bench mob. No more Watson, Brewer, Korver, Asik. Filled some gaps with Robinson and Teague, but no longer have the depth to do it.
I consider the 2008 Celtics in the same boat as the 04 Pistons. Just far better. I wouldn't consider anyone on their team a superstar. KG was at one point, but not anymore. It was more of a team effort than any one guy willing them to victory. Sure they had allstars, but so did the 04 Pistons.

A man can dream, can't he? I mean, yeah it's a major downgrade but it's still possible. Hopefully. Maybe. Not really. Though, I still think we seed 6th or 7th.

God where did we go wrong ?
Plenty of hope on the horizon my friend. Rose is a smart player and will adapt his game should he lose any athleticism. Plus you grabbed a great piece in Teague so your PG depth is set for years. If you get a lower playoff seed you'll be able to grab another piece to add to your core of Rose/Deng/Boozer/Noah
In 2004 when Detroit last won the championship they had only one all-star on that team that year. Ben Wallace. When I think of that team I don't think of one or two star players "carrying" thier team to the title. I think of a squad of teammates working together to win.
For me, that's a sweeter path to victory. Teams that have '04 Detroit potential this season are Denver and maybe Philly depending on how large of a role Bynum plays in the offense. But both are too young IMO.

Yeah. I just hope he gets a full year of recovery so when he comes back he'll be at full force again. My hope is he takes a page out of CP3's book and starts being more tactical instead of the attack rim post-injury (CP3's injury recovery was good is the point I'm trying to make)
