Everybody's different. For every person that fame and money doesn't make happy, there's another person who it probably does.

Sucks that he killed himself. Haven't watched Days of Thunder in years but use to love it when I was younger. Recently watched Domino and thought it was a pretty good flick. Those Denzel Washington movies he made were always entertaining at the very least.

maybe for him (although I suspect he had some form of mental disorder)

there is no question that money brings happiness to others...even "meaning" if they are big on philanthropy.

Apparently he was suffering through inoperable brain cancer.

Hmm, perhaps you guys are right. I suppose it really would just depend upon the person. I may have been taking my own feelings and generalizing for others there. I've always felt that regardless of how much money I earned, I'd eventually become used to it, then my happiness would be back to relying upon things money couldn't buy (inner-contentment, human relations, an appreciation for life as a whole). I mean, clearly, inner-contentment is only going to take me so far if I'm poor and jobless, but between making enough to survive versus being super rich, I don't think the latter would boost my happiness level beyond where I could be if I were not to have that money.

yeah everyone is different, but IMO if you are "used" to being rich that means you are taking it for granted, which you can also do with loved ones.

How many unhappy husbands have been used to being married and don't realize how great their wife is until she is gone? the same could be said for money, you don't understand the freedom and happiness it is bringing to your life until it is gone and you are fighting for scraps instead of relaxing on the beach.

that sucks. I liked his flicks.

I wonder how Ridley Scott will deal with this? He has had depression issues too.

Can't blame him then. I've seen that type of Cancer wear a person and his family down to the core.

RIP Mr. Scott and thank you so much for the entertainment

I knew somebody who killed himself a couple months ago because of an inoperable brain tumor. Doctors told him that he would develop dementia quickly, so he chose to shoot himself instead.

I'd go to Vegas and blow as much of that money I have on strip clubs and hookers until the dementia or death comes. I'm hoping he at least did something like that before the jump.
