Messi scores 70 goals, Ronaldo scores 60 and scores against every team in La Liga almost single-handedly winning La Liga for Madrid, yet Iniesta, the player who was injured for a chunk of the season, wins it because he had a good performance in the stacked Spanish National Team. I'm sorry, but Messi or Ronaldo deserved this.

How does he deserve it more than Messi and Ronaldo? Can you please explain? Iniesta performed well in a tournament where his national team was a HEAVY favorite. It was a good performance, but he wasn't extraordinary. Messi and Ronaldo did something that players do once in a generation... 60 and 70 goals!

Good thing this award hardly carries any weight compared to FIFA's Ballon D'or. This UEFA throphy has proven to be a joke.

You keep mentioning those 70 and 60 goals

You do realize that Iniesta is a big part of that. Xavi too. On the other side Ozil who had like 20+ assists and Alonso. So goals arent everything. I do agree that Messi is the better player, maybe even Ronaldo ( arguable IMO ), but its not unusual if the 3rd best player wins a individual award. Look at the balon d'or winners and you will see. And this is not even balon d'or.

Iniesta has less assists than Messi and Ronaldo in La Liga btw. Messi had 16 assists, Ronaldo had 12, and Iniesta only had 9.

Assists and goals :

Do you watch Iniesta play? his understanding of space, the way he sucks defense around him, his off the ball pressing , his distribution, in the final third?

He's a magician.

Best first touch in the world and up there with Messi as the best dribbler.

Messi is the pivot of Barcelona's attack, the system is set up for him to put up monster stats because he's always ment to be the one with the final touch before a goal or with the pass for the assist.

But the entire system is about stretching out defenses to make room for the forwards and whoever makes runds to work, Iniest does that when defenders, and basically everyone has to come out of their respective zones and cover him.

I'm a Madrid fan.....Ronaldo is an amazing goalscorer....but just like Messi the system is in place for him to put up stats, Benzema , ozil, Di maria etc all spoonfeed him.

And unlike Messi, he's relatively weak in terms of making himself the main defensive focus of the opposition.

Uh, of course the system is in place to cater to the best players in the world... Players like Messi and Ronaldo don't need to be spoon fed, they are players that can turn a contender into a champion.

When I say Ronaldo single-handedly won La Liga for Madrid I am not exaggerating. Watch the last few games before the Clasico and see that without his magic they would be within one point heading into the match against Barcelona. And you know that without him Real Madrid probably loses or ties against Barca in the Camp Nou.

Iniesta is not in the same class as Ronaldo or Messi. Xavi was close in 2008/2009, not now.

I really don't see the argument over Messi... outside of simply trying to be different by not giving him all the awards.

You're an idiot, Ronaldo did no magic and he most certainly did not win us La Liga single handedly. That was a team effort.

You can refrence whatever Magic you want , I every minute of every game, he has won us many games , but none of them single handedly (bar the Atletico game )

I don't want to say we could win without him, because that's disrespecting him as a footballer, but when the Ronaldo fanboys and media hype make it seem like he's a class above the rest of our attackers you need to cut that shit out.

Out attackers are the best in Europe, Benzema, Ozil, Ronaldo, Di Maria, Higuian, Callejon. No one matches that attacking talent. Ronaldo may be the best of the group currently but in no way or form is he a level above these guys.

Anyway. He's an amazing player and I think he's without doubt a top 3 player in the world , but our team is much more important than any one individual.

I'm a Madrid fan as well and you don't want to say it because you know we can't win without him. The term Cristiano-dependencia is said often in the Spanish press. Ronaldo doesn't score in the first two La Liga matches and Madrid doesn't have a win yet, not a coincidence. This team is built around Ronaldo because he is head and shoulders above anyone else on the squad. Deal with it.

Ronaldo is definitely heads and shoulders above all his teammates. This is a known fact. They built this team around him because he's the best player in the world with Messi.

Messi/Ronaldo are better but Iniesta is a fantastic player. He's one of those non-stat guys. Beautiful playing style

He's better but it's very exaggerated by the fanboys and and sometimes Rags like Marca etc.

Real Madrid is a team club.

Benzema didn't score, Ozil didn't assist etc etc, it's ridiculous logic.

Watch the games from time to time please, not youtube mixies and higlights

He's a complimentary player to a superstar like Messi or Ronaldo.

Nobody will build a team around him.
