Gonna have to go with Bynum also

Its already obvious the guy is going to be a HOF center when its all said and done. Did you guys see how efficient he was this year? Complete with an all star appearance too. Surprised Malone and some of the other guys got on the list above him as well

18.7/11.8/1.5/2

#18 ALL-TIME: ANDREW BYNUM

THE GOD!!

Top 5 in MVP Voting

Pettit - 8 times, won MVP twice in '56, '59
Baylor - 7 times
Robinson - 5 times, won MVP in '95
Barkley - 4 times, won MVP in '93
Dirk - 3 times, won MVP in '07
Thomas - 1 time

Pettit also has a Championship and if the award existed back then he would have a Finals MVP award.

Dirk won a championship and Finals MVP

Robinson also has a DPOY, and was a 2nd option in 2 Championships.

Thomas has 2 Championships and a Finals MVP. But was he on the level of the others?

Anyways, Baylor.
5 Championships and would probably have all 5 Finals MVP awards, and multiple MVPs if the awards existed at the time.

There was no shot-clock and the times were different. But this is all-time though so yes he belongs I guess. People penalize him for the era he's play in but was it really that much different from Russell and Wilt? Mikan won his last Championship in '54, Russell won his first Championship in '57, and Wilt was drafted in '59.

I'm going to go with Bob Pettit

Champion
2 MVPs
Top 5 in MVP Voting 8 times
11x All-Star
10x All-NBA First Team
2x Scoring Champ

He was the first player ever to win the NBA MVP and one of 2 players to defeat the Bill Russell Dynasty Celtics in the Playoffs, the other was Wilt in '67.

Honestly? Yeah, it was a TON different. Basketball changed radically during the time. I've watched a ton of 50's tape as well as 60's. The 50's provided the stepping stone for modern basketball while the 60's really helped complete the transformation.

With all that in mind though, the whole reason for all of that happening is because of guys like Mikan. So when making an all time list he deserves to be at least top 20. Since it's so hard to compare players across eras we gotta do it by how they did in their era.

I posted about this earlier, but no one ever says "Issac Newton isn't a top 10 scientist all time, I learned about the laws of motion in 3rd grade". Now a days we learn Mikans moves in grade school(actually, big men use the "Mikan Drill" to practice their hook shots) but he was an innovator and the guy that really set the foundation for modern basketball.

Barkley, one of the greater players who didn't win a title in their careers.

The thing that I think gives Malone the nod is because his role was clearly defined. You knew what he was gonna give you but couldn't stop it, barkley's gift and Achilles heel was the fact that he was a hybrid.

Hybrids are great but hard to build around, some nights he'll murder from the perimeter and other nights from the paint. That's great for fans but whatever he's doing, his teammates have to pick up the slack and that is impossible to build consistency that way.

If you want to sell tickets go with Barkley. If you need a go to player go with Malone
