That's what happens when you sell the best CB in the world and a top 3 striker in the world all at once, I guess.
Nesta wasn't sold, he just semi-retired.
Silva was sold tho...(he's not the best CB in the world, in any way).
Milan is actually good on paper. It's just a lot to lose the entire old guard in one Summer, along with entire CB partnership...and losing Nesta is massive for so many reasons beyond him being the absolute best CB in the world when he left. Abbiatti is one of the worst GK's around. It can't be overstated how much Nesta protected him. Zapata was a great CB in Italy and is only one year on a sinking Submarine removed from being that player. Unfortunately, he's still not gonna as good as Silva and to lose both in one year (even if neither were that good) is a lot to make up.
Robinho hasn't had anywhere near a semi-fair chance to live up to his potential, but he's still been a very good player in Europe. This is the year where he has to establish himself as what he can be. He's only 28. They're a good team, but shit like getting Montolivo just because he's free, getting De Jong instead of Diarra, and allowing KPB to wear #10...that's where it's really gonna hurt his year. But after they miss the CL, they'll be back...oh, and obviously they have to get an actual GK.
