So basically you're saying Messi will be considered a scrub compared of the stars in 30 years?

You come up with insane points to put your mancrush on a pedestal.

You're still degrading Gerd Müller, who basically was a way better Gomez/Klose.

Shut up.
So Wilt wasn't the best? SO Mess is what? WTF are you talking about? You make no sense.

messi is the best, wilt wasnt. Its as simple as that. Wilt broke records but Russell was the one winning.
Would anyone even try to compare Messi to Maradona and Pele if he was doing the same thing as he does now ( breaking goal records) if he didnt won a single title?

You compared Messi to Wilt. WTF are you talking about? And Messi doesn't win everything, what are you watching? He doesn't always win. In the World Cup he basically was invisible. I know you want to give him credit forward for what you think he will do but it doesn't work like that.

Gerd Müller is that striker who scored 68 times in 62 games for Germany. You compare that to Messi?

Exactly, Messi shouldn't be in the same sentence. Just quoting some Wikipedia:

"With national records of 68 goals in 62 international appearances, 365 goals in 427 Bundesliga games and the international record of 66 goals in 74 European Club games, he was one of the most successful goalscorers of his era. Müller is now 8th on the list of all time international goalscorers despite playing fewer matches than every player in the top 15."
" He won the German Championship four times, the German Cup four times, the European Champions' Cup three times, the Intercontinental Cup once, and the European Cup Winners’ Cup once."
"Müller scored 68 goals in 62 games for West Germany. His international career started in 1966 and ended on 7 July 1974 with the win of the World Cup at his home stadium in Munich. He scored the winning goal for the 2–1 victory over the Netherlands in the final. His four goals in that tournament and his ten goals at the 1970 World Cup combined made him the all-time highest World Cup goalscorer at the time with 14 goals. This record stood until the 2006 tournament, coincidentally held in Germany, when it was broken by Brazilian forward Ronaldo on 27 June, playing against Ghana, although it took Ronaldo twice as many world cup tournaments to accomplish this feat with later World Cups also having more games than in Müller's era."

"Müller also participated in the 1972 European Championship, becoming top scorer with four goals (including two in the final) and winning the Championship with the West German team."

especially concerning his national team record, Messi does not compare favorably

Well to be fair:

As good as Müller was (probably the best pure goal scorer of all time), he was also clearly not the best player of his generation.

Messi probably will be remembered as the best player of his generation.

These facts don't make alenleomessi any less of a **** though.

You're probably right, but Messi's claim to greatness IS his immense goalscoring ... where Gerd Müller arguably has him beat, especially in international appearances.

Gerd Muller has world cups. Gerd Muller is the best striker of all time. Messi hasn't even been to the world cup semi-finals, and at club level plays with Xavi, who many are already calling the GOAT midfielder and Iniesta who is an all time great too. Messi has never shown the ability to produce the same kind of form he does for Barca without those two feeding him easy chances.

Gerd Muller produces everywhere. Messi isn't better than Maradona either.

messi is overrated. he plays every minute of every game (even games that are meaningless against rubbish opponents), he takes penalties, freekicks and has a supporting cast of some of the best players of all time (xavi, iniesta) giving him the sort of service others can only dream of. oh and he has been on hgh since the age of 12. when you think about it his achievements arent that great. in fact he should score more. 0 goals in 8 games against the best defensive club team of his era (Chelsea 04-12) says a lot frankly.
