TheNaturalWR has an OK reputation so far
Default Re: Cornerback Log 2012-2013 edition.

Claiborne has looked really good in coverage but in the run game? God awful.

Claiborne finishes with 5 targets, 4 completions for 37 yards.

There was one pass near him that I did not count. They were in a cover 3 zone and Claiborne had the deep 3rd (so his responsibility was not allowing the WR to get on top of him) and they just tossed it into the dead part of the zone, right where the robber safety couldn't get it (just barely).

“He's played in a lot of big time games in his career and it didn’t look like he was in awe of the situation at all,” coach Jason Garrett said. “They have good receivers up there in New York, they throw the football well. We put him in some situations where he had to cover those guys by himself and I thought he did a good job. They caught some passes on him, but that's the nature of the NFL.

"The big thing when you're a corner is when they do have some success against you, what do you do the next play? And I thought he did a good job of coming back and competing in the game.”

“He battled,” cornerback Brandon Carr said of Claiborne. “He’s a warrior, man. He knew they were going to come after him the whole game. He stood up like a man and played, kept the deep ball from going over his head and made the tackles. That’s all we need.”

I thought he played pretty good. He had good positioning on a couple of the completions.

I wish i could do Tramon

Vontae had a rough start to his Indy career. 6 targets, 4 completions for 80 yards, two td's allowed and 1 penalty.

Champ with a pretty good night. Ben rarely looked his way.

It will only be a matter of time before Porter Island is created.

He was great on Sunday Night. He shut down Mike Wallace for the most part. Porter gave up that TD to Mike Wallace but it was a back-shoulder throw and you couldn't defend it any better than Porter did.

The guy has multiple accounts to make him look like he's a poster that knows what he's talking about.

Vontae had a very nice game.

1 catch on a slant and that was it. There was a swing pass to his man but I do not count those.

Claiborne continued his excellent start. Wilson rarely looked his way. Only allowed one completion in a zone for 20 yards.

Updated.

Claiborne only gave up a Pass Interference for 15 yards.

Champ got hit with a penalty for 5 yards and gave up the crucial 1st down at the end of the game to Dre.

Vontae was solid, though Jac doesn't look to pass at all vs. us....

I am surprised Claiborne has been this successful, this early. Nobody just comes in and locks people down like he's doing. He's giving up below 25 yards a game and zero touchdowns. Incredible.

Champ isn't living off reputation thus far either. He's still playing at an elite level and worthy of the shut down corner label he gets.

Vontae still has a ways to go, but he's getting more accustom to our defense and hopefully the last two weeks are an indication of what is to come.
