Default Anyone care about the ref lockout?

Just curious about opinions, or even if there are opinions. The players think this matters so I guess I want them back but it hasn't impacted my enjoyment level...it's only one game but I doubt that changes because we only notice refs when they eff up and if it's now 2 mistakes per game instead of 3? Eh.

last night there were 2 really bad calls and then a few that were borderline...

-the Scandrick PI that was missed in the endzone

-and the Hatcher roughing the passer

both ref fck ups and both drastic in terms of what they do to the outcome...

that being said not sure if the regular refs would have done much better, they usually fck up a couple times a game as well...

The Hatcher roughing the passer was not a bad call. THat's a terrible rule, and i think a terrible way for the NFL to apply the rule but they were calling that all of last year. I've seen JPP run by and touch the QB's helmet with his finger and get roughing.

You neglect the hold in the endzone on Cruz that would be first and goal at the 1, why was that?

That is the Scandrick PI I am talking about...guess it could be seen as a hold too

That Hatcher call was wrong though...he never touched Eli's helmet, it was all chest

thing is the NFL purposely put the best of the scab refs in that game last night b/c they are trying to cut the striking refs off at the knees.

we'll see how good they really are this weekend.

He slapped him in the facemask and in the neck. Again, it's a total ***** call but they make those calls with the regular refs. You swing like that and make contact with that area only and push the guy back? That's always a call. Shit, if that was Tom Brady not only would it have been a call, they'd have dragged your guy out back and shot him.

As long as they don't fvck up too bad, I don't care. Granted they haven't been great, but people are acting like the old refs were perfect.

There are going to be some games where the defense holds like mother****ers on the receivers, the replacement refs seem compeltely oblivious to it (no hate, if the Cowboys were smart enough to do it and the Giants were not then that's a sign we were unprepared....as long as reffing is consistent it's fair).

I thought the refs sucked at calling holding all night in all aspects.

I saw pretty much every kind of hold possible and only remember them actually calling it twice.

There will be a female referee officiating the Lions season opener.

I care deeply about the ref lockout for this reason alone.

The Giants didn't hold. Holding requires being in position. We weren't close enough to yell at the Cowboy receivers much less hold them.

Only thing I really care about is that they don't seem to actually be getting the best refs available. It's D3 and Arena League 2 guys. It's like they just sent out a memo to a bunch of referee organizations and said "hey, wanna make a couple hundred bucks?"
