Exactly, which is why it's hilarious to see people who still say "well if Seattle really wanted to support the team they should have just accepted the new half a billion dollar arena proposal that wasn't even in Seattle".

For true justice, the Thunder must be moved back to Seattle's new arena. Just don't bring Clay Bennett. Keep his fat ass locked up in one of OKC's finest outhouses.

No, by your logic every team that has ever had worse attendance than the Sonics should be moved.

Agreed 100%.

It was his alibi of "good faith" and we all knew he was a man possessed to move the team to OKC.

Hmm...Why didn't they just keep the Hornets there?

I remember a situation like this years ago. I cant think of the place but some city wanted to try to lure an NBA team. The owner and state had come to an agreement....people pay like 3 dollars more to register their cars each year...to get a new tag. That pays the people portion of the deal and he pays the rest. Would have raised the like 50 million they needed in a matter of years. The city wanted the arena.

But the vote to raise the fee to pay for it didnt pass.

So....people want it...it will generate tens(hundreds) of millions considering all that goes on with a new arena and what springs up with it. The people who live off the crowds.

People want it. Dont wanna pay 3 bucks a year. will pay it for coffee...every day. Wont pay it for hundreds of hours of entertainment and al ocal economy boost.

Id have to say....**** em. Dont get a team. Clearly...everything else is more important. Including skittles money.

Arena didnt get built. This may have been Kansas City in the early 90s. Not sure. I just remember reading it and laughing inside.

If you cant pay a few cents a week each....dont complain about not having a team anymore.

Agreed. I know a lot of Sonics fans in Seattle were p1ssed off about this.

But unfortunately even more non fans took the trouble to write to the State legislature to say NO to the NBA. Political leaders cared more about their chances at re elections so they went with it.

I know it's more or less a rhetorical question, but it was David Stern's narrow-minded thinking and possible PR-backlash that moved the Hornets back to New Orleans. I've always said that the Hornets should have stayed permanently in Oklahoma City (a hell of a lot more support there than in NO even pre-Katrina); as I remember it, the Bennett group wanted to buy the Hornets while they were playing in OKC. If Bennett and his cronies got what they wanted in the first place, the Sonics would still be in Seattle to this day.

i pray for your sake that they soon figure out a way to implant brains into people so you can enjoy your first experience with one.

the owners get ALL of the benefit? yea, the thousands of fans that go to these games absolutely DREAD going to the arena to see some losers play some loser game. the fans HATE having something to be prideful for in their city. the local business HATE having more people around to drive up their revenues. the hundreds of jobs that are created are extremely ridiculous.

and the owners take no risk? yea, spending MILLIONS AND MILLIONS on something that may not happen is not risky at all. spending your hard earned money so you can give the people their team back while having no guarantee that the product will come is risk-free. life is good.
