Default Mark Cuban disses lakers moves

Reported on AM 710. When a fan asked Cuban on his thoughts of "super teams", he responds with along the lines of "Lakers did it once with Malone and Payton, and still lost". Also added "You need to have chemistry, and guys who want to be there. I don't know if those guys want to be there".

I understand what Mark is trying to do. He's a great owner. Very passionate about his team. He's simply stating he's not afraid. He is right when he says chemistry is more important. His team proved that by winning the championship against the Heat a couple of seasons back.

What Mark fails to understand is that in a league where most teams needed talent to win, you must build a roster that can matchup with the top teams. When the Celtics traded for Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett, every team in the league, including the lakers were trying to build their teams to match them. The lakers shortly traded for Pau.

Lets look at what happened the next 3 seasons. The celtics won the first, then the lakers won the next two. Afterwards, God's light somehow shone upon the mavericks. A team that had an average season, and they came in the playoffs and played amazing basketball. But then lets look at what happened after that. The heat won the championship.

Now that all these super teams have taken 4 of the last 5 championships, the lakers built a team that does not only match the best teams, but rather a team that has no weaknesses.

Adding a defensive superstar center next to an all star offensive power forward. Then adding one of the best point guards and offensive geniuses next to the game's best scorer. Adding a bunch of scorers to the bench to cover for last year's mistakes.

If all these pieces come together with the same goal in mind, to win the championship, then it will happen. Basketball is after all, a mental game. Mark Cuban was right in that players have to want to be there. I challenge him in that he thinks people don't want to be on this team.

Malone was injured.

Shut it Cuban- you tried just as hard for Howard.

Exactly. Not to mention Payton had a big issue with Phil and the offense. Derek Fisher played in every fourth quarter in the second half of the season and Payton barely played in the finals.

Cuban still does have a chance to get howard this off-season if Howard decides maybe LA isn't the place for him. Sources are the mavs are his next team. Winning solves all problems.

Cuban is a bum. A billionaire bum. We have a dream team and he's just jealous. The 04 team didn't have the depth of this team either, which is about to get even deeper if we add Barbosa.

Funny considering he was up in arms about Chris Paul to the Lakers last summer.

I actually like Mark Cuban......he's just doing his thing, same as Phil Jackson used to do, it's definitely not to be taken seriously.....just mind tricks

Of course! I just hope his subtle innuendo isn't taken seriously by guys like Dwight. Mind games can work both ways. With a co-worker and with a competing rival...

As rich as this cuban dude maybe he could not assemble a dream team anywhere near like mitch has assembled so cuban's just gripping on the fact the larry o'brien trophy already has the Lakers engraved on it!

Wasnt this the same Mark Cuban who was willing to gamble everything in the hopes of getting superstar Dwight Howard and superstar D Will?

lol they're business men, all of these guys. He wanted them badly, but to the media he'll make a statement regarding how "chemistry is more important than talent" or whatever the case may be.

He dissed Ron Artest coming to the lakers saying it would be such a funny situation to watch. Well laker fans had the last laugh. Only until the next season when they lost to the mavericks, Cuban was having the time of his life...much later. He's harmless. You can hear him a mile away.

Now you've got CP3 who wanted to be a laker so bad, saying he never really wanted to be a laker now that he's a clipper. You've got Dwight Howard that said he didn't want to come to the lakers. Now he's a laker and is reportedly happier than ever. Its just the way the business works. Its nothing personal.

If this was personal, lakers would never get any stars on this team.
