Seems like the Lakers are in the hunt for Barbosa alongside Nash actively trying to recruit. I think he'd be another great addition to our bench. Thoughts?
Quote:
If Barbosa can prove to be a force off the bench in the backcourt at point guard and or shooting guard, Lakers Coach Mike Brown might get him more involved with an increase in minutes. If signed, Barbosa would be competing with quite a few players in the backcourt for playing time.
One reason the team might be leaning towards signing the Brazilian is his ties with Steve Nash. According to Kennedy, Nash has been recruiting Barbosa
Wow....This is too much talent if we do get him. When exactly does it become enough
There is no such thing as too much talent. The Lakers are obviously giving Kobe a dream team as his "going away" present, as his retirement is imminent.
I still think we need to find one more legit small forward. I'm perfect content with the guards and bigs we have. But I'm entirely sold on Metta or Ebanks. I'm wondering if mitch can pull off one more mega deal and get us Josh Smith as our starting small forward.

There absolutely can be too much talent. But only to the point of redundancy.
Do you think that 5 players who shoot 30 shots a game, can somehow come together as one unit?
On the other hand, this roster has talent in every area. We have the second best rebounder (Kevin Love is first to me lol), top scorer, top defender, a top passer, and a guy who can do everything (Pau). Our bench has guys who can score just enough to keep the team ahead until our starters are ready to come back.
So why would we need Barbosa if we have Duhon, Blake, Meeks, Nash, Goudelock, Morris?

We need Barbosa because winning is not enough. We seek to dominate, destroy, and demoralize every team in the league.

Because considering nash age, back probs, Barbosa is the best pick-up right now!! And way better then the other names mention!! If nash gets hurt!! Barbosa will be ready to start in his place!!! Imo
Here's another story about the Lakers and Barbosa. Also mentions some other quality free agents should be considering, including my guy Terrence Williams.
I change my mind. We don't need Barbosa. He is not a very good defender, and we have plenty of scoring guards. We do need another small forward though. Terrence Williams should get our final roster spot.

Nice article post kk.
I don't agree with it but is a sensible point of view.
I don't feel we should even consider anyone who has no big game or playoff experience......we've been burned by guys who can't handle the bright lights like Blake and Sessions. This team is built to win NOW, not for the distant future......would I trust Terrence Williams in a playoff game
I would put my focus on Chris Anderson who was #5 in blocked shots per 48 minutes played for guys who played at least 30 games. He is athletic, can run the floor and isn't scared of the moment.
Barbosa would be a good addition if we could dump Blake on someone for a draft pick.
DFish needs to come home and join us...............
as a coach only
The Clippers are like the creepy roommate who is so desperate to be like you that they start dressing like you and trying to do anything to look like you. They are digging in our trash to wear our old stuff......quite pathetic Who's next Smush Parker ?
I think Metta & Ebanks can handle 100% of the SF minutes......I don't see a need to add someone there......we don't need a shooter at that spot, just defense and hustle, the equivalent of Rodman on the Bulls.

This is going to be the third year for Devin Ebanks. I'd rather just give the spot to him. I like what he's seen. He has a nice mid range jumper, and he's also a very good secondary defender. He's a mini-ariza. As you've mentioned, we don't need anymore scorers. We have plenty. 4 guys on in the starting spot that can get 25 whenever they want, and guys off the bench who will do their job of keeping the +/- stat at a decent 0, or even a plus.
Terrence Williams is skilled enough anyways to where he'd demand more cash than we can give.
