Default Where do you rank David Robinson?

Does anyone have him top 20? 25-30 seems to be the concensus.

really boils down to how much you knock him down for that 95 series against Hakeem, and whether or not you credit him as the defensive anchor on that 99 team

NOT a top 5 center in my book, that's for sure. Hakeem just completely toyed with him in such an embarassing way that was unheard of if any professional league! And he was the MVP too that year!!! Just flat out dominated by Hakeem in every way imaginable.

All you ISH youngsters, check out that 1v1 matchup on YouTube.

I have him ranked in my top 20. I have him above Barkley if you would like to see a benchmark.

Among centers?

1. KAJ
2. Russell
3. Wilt
4. Shaq
5. Hakeem
6. Moses Malone
7. Mikan
8. Reed
9. Robinson
10. Ewing
11. Cowens (I edited to include him just to show that I didn't forget him)

Is that underrating him? He didn't do a lot before Tim Duncan came to town.

He didn't have much help and he always overachieved with the Spurs in the regular season. I would say you are either underrating Robinson or overrating Reed by putting Reed over him.

30ish somewhere, once you get that deep into the ranks bumping a player up or down a few spots doesn't mean a lot

Regular Season

But I understand why you like so much of regular season, your favorite player is the "King" of it

Without a doubt, one of the 10 centers ever. Mikan-Reed-DRob, they are interchangable at 7-8-9.

It will be pretty huge range but it seems 17-25 range is pretty accurate for him imo.

Below Patrick Ewing. I would take Cowens and Reed over him, as well, had their career's been longer. He's a borderline top 10 center, and someone you were never, ever going to win a title with if he was your best player. Far too soft.

It's hard to do well in the post-season when you have no help. A lot of players struggle in the post-season when they don't have help.

Tim Duncan in 2002 is probably the perfect example of this. 2002 Duncan was no different than 2003 Duncan in terms of abilities, skills, etc. Duncan in 03 performed better in the post-season but the only difference was that 03 Duncan had help while 02 Duncan didn't.
