Mid-way through the season, the Lakers are 4 games ahead of the Suns, the WC's worst team record-wise. Only three teams (PHX, SAC, NOH) have worse records. The Lakers are featuring two starting all-stars this year in Kobe and Dwight, a dubious honor should they not turn things around with 41 games remaining until the playoffs start and make the postseason. Total wins: 17 (on pace to 34) Total payroll inluding lux-tax: $129,479,462 (leads league)
