Because of the LFL's perception it is that much more critical for us to hire officiating crews that are competent, not only for the credibility of our game but to keep our athletes safer. Due to several on-field incompetent officiating we chose to part ways with with a couple crews which apparently are now officiating in the NFL. We have a lot of respect for our officials but we felt the officiating was not in line with our expectations.
We have not made public comment to date because we felt it was not our place to do so. However in light of tonight's event, we felt it was only fair that NFL fans knew the truth as to who are officiating these games.
The Lingerie Football League has more interest in the integrity of their product than the NFL.
Anyone here remember the movie Rat Race where Cuba Gooding Jr. played a football referee and got harassed by fans throughout the movie for screwing up a coin toss? That's what I thought of after he signaled a TD after the play and then came back out after review and confirmed the ruling on the field.
I feel bad for him, to be honest. Now me, I wouldn't recognize him walking down the street. But you know there's fans out there that will see him doing his day-to-day business and harass the hell out of him. He may have to go into hiding for a while.
ya, which is a shame really. these refs are doing the best they can. it's the owners and real refs that have put them in this situation. they're just grossly overwhelmed and underqualified for this, especially with no training essentially. it's like sending a mcdonald's fry cook to go cook gourmet meals at a 5 star steakhouse...
That's insane about the refs getting fired from that other league. NFL pretty much spitting in the face of every fan saying f*ck it they'll watch no matter what anyways. Which from a business standpoint is true and smart but still sucks.
Hopefully this game doesn't have an effect down the line and Green Bay doesn't end up missing the playoffs by a game or Seattle getting in by one etc.
