And 2010, 11 and 12. He led the league in interceptions in 2010 with about a 100, but you think he was awesome and consistent? Last year, he got bailed out by his receivers on a number of plays, but we're not allowed to give credit to anyone but the QB, right? I know the Redskins didn't have trouble beating them last year while Eli was craptacular in those games.
He had 2 pro bowl caliber WRs, a nice #3 WR, 2 DEs that combined for about 25 sacks, and your defense was near the top in getting turnovers. Nobody will doubt that he's really good, but he's just not at the top. It's not like it's a slight on him. I have to agree with pt, he's becoming overrated.
Lets have a person who actually watched Giant football for that entire 2010 comment on that situation?
It was clear and can be stated with no exaggeration at all that the majority of those interceptions were from tipped balls that hit off the receiver. He didn't play as bad as the interception numbers suggest.
9th in the NFL in offense, and 25th in defense. But yea sure, the defense was the heart of the team
See, I've said this before, and I knew people would do this....reflecting on this past Giants win and using the Giants rank as far as their defense goes (25th or whatever it was) as a way to "up" Eli Manning.
Here's the bottom line. That defense stepped the **** up in the playoffs. Without them there is no title. They destroyed Atlanta, made life hell for the Packers, one of the best offenses ever....then held Brady and company in check to the tune of 17 points when they were scoring 30+ regularly.
It's a team sport. Take a look at Eli Manning play sometime, take a look at Rodgers play sometime, take a look at Brady.....they are sitting on the bench for half the game having no impact on the game whatsoever.
I think the only QBs who have a case over Eli right now, based on their body of work over the last several seasons (playoffs included) are Rodgers, Brady, and Brees. Two years ago Peyton and Rivers would've rounded out my top 5, but now I have Eli at #4.

Giants defense did step up but Eli played great in last years postseason.. He was clutch and barely had any turnovers.. He played great against Atlanta, played great against the 49ers whom absolutely crushed him and he was clutch as usual in the Superbowl, him leading a 95 yard drive while trailing with 2 minutes left was just amazing..
Most superbowl teams have their defense step up.. It's rare to see a team win the superbowl by winning in shoot outs in each postseason game. Colts had their defense step up in 2006(although there was a shootout in NE), Steelers, Packers, etc..
