Every player in the league is banged up and plays with pain. It's a matter of how much pain and how often you can play.

All I can use as a basis for a judgment are the facts. They show that he's missed a lot of starts. As a guy grading players, that would downgrade him in my book.

For QB, fairly or unfairly, it's the way they're measured.

Starting pitchers are reliant on hitting and defense. Goalies are reliant on scoring and defense (admittedly, I don't know a lot about hockey). Both are tagged with wins and losses.

In the big picture, not winning a Super Bowl didn't keep Dan Marino from the HOF, and his body of work outweighs that in compatrison to many other QB. But if we're discussing he and a couple with comparable careers, it certainly comes heavily into play.

top 10. doesn't deserve a ton of the heat he takes but some of it is warranted until he produces in the playoffs. o-line withstanding, he's got the offensive firepower. i think the blueprint is out on romo...get pressure up the middle and he struggles mightily. he does decent with pressure on the sides but he really can't make many tough throws with someone in his face.

So with those givens...everyone has close to the same talent and plays close to evenly matched competition, using the only stat that matters in the real world... Wins and Losses ... isn't far fetched.

Sure everyone contributes to either failure or success. But the highest profile posuition in sports; the guy who makes and executes the decisions that result in success or failure; has as big a hand in those individual W-L as anyone could.

It's called being a jaded, blind and demented homer to the point of no return.

Rating QBs by Ws and Ls is as simple minded as it gets...it is what I did in elementary school

Most would even say its a horrible stat for pitchers, but at least pitchers are on a smaller team and have to rely less on their teammates...perhaps the catcher is his biggest reliance

You can't discount the wins and losses though unless you have compelling stat evidence that the person in question is head and shoulders above others, like a Dan Marino, in which case we do throw the stats out the window. Romo has no compelling evidence statwise he's a top 5 guy. If better at all statwise, it's marginal.

When you watch teh Cowboys monday night, if they lose, Romo throws a terrible pick to end the game (completely his fault, like the Revis one last year), but he goes 20 for 23, is that a great game we should all celebrate?

Sadly, it's impossible to have a discussion with you that doesn't involve you cherry picking a point and tossing around insults.

That's what I did in elementary school.

Romo is top 3 ALL TIME in passer rating

If the defense doesn't give up points Romos play doesnt matter..

If the lineman doesn't go off sides...

If the RB doesn't get tackled...

If the WR doesn't drop the ball

Etc
Etc
Etc

If the 49ers win a ring this year is Smith better than Romo?

It's simple minded thinking, that isn't an insult JMT, its just the truth.

schaub and montana played in different eras...92.0 rating back then is like 120.0 now

but niko said that Romo didn't have top-5 stats, so I was just showing him otherwise
